Fitted this the other day, couldn't get a proper photo until today as it was cloudy yesterday.
Very pleased with it, now need to give the whole 90 a wash at some point if and when I get the time, energy, and inclination. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

I'm going to see what I can do on renewal when it comes up in a few months.
As I'm sure many of you are aware a lot of insurance companies have policies classed as a contract now and as such you can't just swap or change or cancel. So if they turned you down you'd be left in a hole, probably have to pay the rest of the years premium and take out a new policy. Insurers are a right pain in the backside to a lot of us, they are concerned about some things but not others which is ridiculous. If someone straps a bike on the back which could stick out and catch another car that is fine, so would various other items some could cause this, one could cause that. Who knows? I don't trust any of them myself anyway, like insurance for many things they'll preach and take your money but when it comes to paying out.... Like the poor chap on here that had his written off, the insurers took it and offered him about 8k just because the doors etc were stolen and that was it. And that was a Puma worth about £15 - 20k I'd say. (?I think it was) For 8k you'd barely buy a TD5. The whole thing with insurers leaves a sour taste in the mouth. I'm yet to see hardly any Defender on here without some sort of modification and they are all unique. Many of which they will not even understand what it is. I mentioned about my tracker before, they said what is that? They then said no discount but will take note. They didn't even do that when it came to. There is specialised insurers, but then you have to be careful of underwriters. Mine field it really is. |

Swac3 - On your link someone mentioned a few posts down that they were insured by Markerstudy, not sure if directly or underwritten.
I'm sure that K9F on here said something about avoiding them like the plague at one point. |

Wasn't technically today - more Monday - but gave her a good old wash!
When I picked her up from the Dealership I specifically asked them NOT to wash the exterior during their PDI! I've seen how the prepare cars and they just f-up the paintwork!! She was treated to a two bucket wash and dry then the polisher came out to remove the general light scratches, holograms and any light swirls! The paintwork is STUPIDLY soft! Here are my results - including a few befores and afters! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

I was expecting it to take most of the afternoon to work my way around... the whole thing - including setting up the jet wash and collapsing down - took just over 4 hours. The paintwork is literally butter soft!
The correction was done with a polishing pad, ultra fine cutting compound and relatively low machine speed! I knew before I picked her up that there was some damage (information from within JLR) but the dealership said they couldn't find it during the PDI. Needless to say I found it - and many many more issues! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge They weren't found because they were on the roof! The large circle should have been a little give away though!! Deep scratches down to the primer... |

LR factory paint is very thin, I found a few defects on mine on the roof too.
You've got to be very careful with the clear coat as it's very easy indeed to go through it |

Yea, I did a quick check with the paint depth gauge to see what I was working with and was as gentle as possible.
The weather didn't hold out long enough for me to put on a sealant so that'll have to wait until I get the time and weather for it: keep it looking as good as possible for as long as possible! I'm a little OCD when it comes to paintwork and car cleaning (incase you couldn't tell ) |

I'm the same, I give up trying to hard as a Defender will drive you mad with paint.
