Recycled the old cubby lid to make an enclosure around the switch cables. Still plenty of space to store the usual cubby crap.

Had new cables made up by mobilecentre to avoid any connections. All working well, getting the rope through the spool was a right PITA... Took a lot of lube...

Completed the front lighting with a Lazer ST-8, it lets me keep the TS4000 aiming further ahead and this with the headlights. Made up a few brackets to hold it onto the A bar fixings.

While you're at it you might was well put one each side on the rack as puddle lights!

Well as Xmas is around the corner fairy lights on the rack would be a better bet. Andy

Thanks buddy, loved the 90 myself and even tried to buy it back!!! This is turning into a dream spec defender for me, and I just love working at it myself, trying different ideas. You have already seen my torch install over in group buys but just going to add the pictures in here....
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Used the kit template and jigsaw.. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Easy enough install, made up a few brackets which just make it rock solid as you do need to give it a bit of a pull to remove it from the base. Ordered the classic mantec RAI today, then plan to install the twisted progressive suspension setup. Thought I had finished my list of mods ! Torch looks great in that location! Not as in your face as on the dash.

I was thinking of the cubby when I saw the torch group buy but thought it might intrude too much inside. Any pics inside to see how much room is left?
Looks great btw Cheers Ray Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

Taking the thickness of the cubby mdf and vinyl I reckon it sits about 50mm inside.... I didn't mind as I already used this side for my switches but I still have my bottle Jack, winch remote and cable, gloves, and few other bits and pieces stored in there!
The dash installation is too obvious as you say, the front of the seat box would work well too. but I kinda like it being visible. Thanks Tim,
I did add the lights into the front footwells, into the underside of the dash as this was a good place to get a good secure fit.. Just a 35mm hole needed then dremel'd out for a good fit. Wired into the interior lights so they come on with the remote and then also wired to come on with the side/headlights etc. Hard to get pictures but even off centre they light up the footwell really well, nice and subtle. I do plan to change all the interior bulbs to LED which should help even more. That looks really factory... Do you have the part numbers for the lights and connectors etc etc?... I fancy doing this to my 110 also..
Cheers Tim It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse... 2013 Bowler 110 (Sold) 2016 Bowler 90 Rally Spec (Sold) |
