That looks great did you just cut up the old dash centre for the switch holes? Ray

Excellent job, I've been thinking of doing something on a similar line for a while but im waiting for a centre piece that someone has already cut the top off for the double din mod. Ray

That looks amazing. What do you mean by added some rads?
Also what did you cut it with? Are they all from the top line of buttons? Thanks |

Originally I was just going to add 3 switches for the spots, but when I decided on the double din today I thought I would give it a go..I cut the three from the bottom and 3 from the top out with a 4" grinder but oversized. Then I used a belt sander to square and size them up. You then need to tidy up the back and make the thickness of the over hang pretty even. Then I rounded the corners and top edges by hand (added rads). They are just press fitted into the holes so no need for glue etc.A final clean and light spray of satin black and they look like finished parts.

Plan to get the double din and rear camera fitted over the weekend so made a start on the wiring. This is the switch arrangement I have gone for in the cubby. Bottom row is just rear fog, front rack lights, and then using a discovery top for either the rear camera or maybe a rear work light, not sure yet. Swapped the discovery switch head onto a heated seat latch switch and then just drilled a 3mm hole for the LED light when active.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Quite a load of wiring to extend but the carpets are pretty forgiving for hiding it so I just made up a loom and brought it through the gear sticks, can't be seen at all. Click image to enlarge All connected, lighting up and doing what they are meant to do... Much more room in the dash now as well to help with the HU fitting Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Andy 2014 Fuji 110 SW LS3 https://www.defender2.net/forum/post751233.html#751233 2014 Corris 110 SW http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40056.html My old Xtech 90 build.. http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic15681.html LS3 V8 build... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic49051.html |

That looks fantastic don't know if it's something you'd want as you've sorted the switch for the rear camera but I came across this from aus while looking for switches.
http://www.expeditioncentre.com.au/online-...variations There's a rear camera switch, rear work light switch, winch, and a few others. I realise the switch itself will probably be the same as you've used but the switch caps look very factory. Ray Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |
