Hi Eric, do you know if the wires for the light went through the existing washer jet hole or were three holes drilled, two for mounting and one for wires?

Not sure of that Ray, as I left it to the service department of my dealer, and I did not want to stand on top of them. The most important for me is that they used everything that I provided, most importantly the stainless fixings, the Duralac anti-corrosion paste (they know that tube very well by now from a few other jobs
 ), and also the foam gasket which comes with the light.
I could have done this by myself, but my dealer is a quite good one here, and I feel more comfortable to leave them loosening up the headlining at one side from back to front, and put it properly back. Matter of fact they broke a few of the headlining plastic fixings in the removing process, but the good thing again is that they have the original replacements for that in stock then again. I got both headlining and rear trim back clean and as firmly fixed up as before. They know I will be checking all that.

Hi, I put my light in the same position as Eric's  Click image to enlarge The connectors for the S17 are roughly central on the lamp unit, but I had to enlarge the washer jet hole slightly to get the wires properly lined up when I had the lamp in the "ideal" position. I'm running double S18's, it's a serious amount of light. I went with the same configuration as mark_d. Makes backing up (and camping so much easier)

Am I missing something? Or is it that the lumen output of the Scenelight being 1400 will make it brighter? Apologies for the stupid question! Lumens is a measure of light output, watts is a measure of power.
One does not directly relate to the other. Just because something is higher powered doesn't make it brighter, it might just be more inefficient. The two you link to don't list a lumen rating. One is also listed as a "spot" which you really don't want for a worklight. |

I used to have a pair of the Wipac (first link in post above) and although ok they weren't very bright, and after about three years the rubber housings had perished so you got black if you touched them and the light tended to fall out of the housing.
I replaced them with a pair of this type, available from many sellers, link . These produce about 10 times the light (a much whiter light too) and are much better. I was so impressed that I have fitted an additional side-facing one on each side of the roofrack, as well as the rear pair. Fantastic amount of light, ideal off road, or towing a trailer in narrow dark places! |

I'm looking to install a pair of scenelites now that I've saved a bit of dosh!
Was trying to look at the wiring diagrams that someone put up early in this thread but they're not there anymore. Could anyone help me out with this? I'd like them to automatically work when selecting reverse gear, but also would like a switch in the back to operate from a permenant live. I know the purple wire in the rear interior light is a permenant live... Is that the most sensible one to aim for? ...or are there any others in the very rear that could be used? I know earlier 90s used to have one at the very back but that's gone now hasn't it?! Thanks, Ben |

...I forgot to add... What are the legalities with reversing lights? Once I've installed the scenelites, could I do away with the existing reversing light altogether?!?

Not legal I am afraid to say.
Reversing lights have to be type approved which basically means E marked. I very much doubt that the scene lights are E marked. Maximum number of reversing lights is two. Position etc no requirements. Now if you have normal reversing lights plus say two scene lights separately switched as work/camping lights then you could legally use them to reverse up your private drive as you are not on a public highway  .

Interesting! Same goes for a big light bar on the front I assume? i.e. You can wore it into the full beam circuit, as long as it's also able to be switched off completely or switched on independently?!
