Probably a lot more car companies will be discovered in the near future.
However the maker of this vehicle is probably worried their cheating will soon be discovered For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

The question is also, are emission controls fit for purpose?
I.e reliable. A cat on a Defender yes, EGR not so...... Not heard much on the DPF side as of yet... One does wonder if they'll have back dated RFL increases to pay... Who will pay, customer or VW? |

If they do impose back dated taxation and rectified bands going forward if vw don't cover it voluntarily then the law suits of the customers who bought in good faith could potentially kill of vw's profits for years, so I don't see it happening, sure a rap on the knuckles after an inquiry and possibly some fines that sound big to the general public but nothing really serious to a firm that big. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Too many people working for VW and USA just protecting it's own car industry.
US car makers all cheat on the stupid emission. Been known for years that they have software that recognises the "test" from the EPA. Here an article: https://cleantechnica.com/2015/09/22/how-c...-industry/ |

Depends on what continent you live and what the emissions are looking for. USA EGR is vital to pass Nitrous Oxide check which we don't have as yet! Watch this space. From another thread....
If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Oddly enough, in my experience (not saying it's a general rule) leaving the EGR alone or using a partial EGR banking plate gives better results than blanking the EGR completely.
The engine is smoother, less noisy/pinking/knocking and also gives better mileage with the EGR than without. Also, using regular diesel and avoiding premium diesel works best on mine... go figure |

The most economical and efficient Golf is the Golf BlueMotion 1.6 TDI 110PS 6spd 3dr Man , that gives you up to *88.3 mpg I dot it will would give this MPG with emission switch on more < 20 mpg good if you share in fuel company |

All the manufacturers cheated at one point (still do),thats why there was a flat spot in the revs,to keep the noise and emissions down.I've heard it said that the egr only functions when the engine is cold and it's secondary function is to help the engine warm up quicker??
Interestingly it's been the Germans who have been the most against ecu data being used for MOT's. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. |

Motorcycle manufacturers have been doing it for years on the noise tests. They have a exhaust valve that increases torque at the bottom end by shutting. It also shuts futher up the Rev range on most bikes, funnily just at the revs a ride by noise test is done. 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)
2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |
