Only a few bits left to get for the outside then finish a few bits on the inside and underneith and then it's save up time to get the respray done and new doors Shocked

Can I ask where the front tinted windows are from, and are they legal being that tinted ? Thanks

That picture makes them look very dark but as you can see from this pic they are not too much more than the factory tint

They came from vgs (landyglass) Ray

On landy glass site they indicate this has a 35% tint, and off road use only. The government web site :

https://www.gov.uk/tinted-vehicle-window-rules

States max permissible on side windows is 25%. (Must let 75% light through)

There was some well know rugby player pulled over and taken to court for exactly this in a defender recently.

Not trying to be s killjoy, as I like this myself, but you could come unstuck.

With how dark it looks when looking straight in I think I'll risk it as it really doesn't look that dark. I think the guy who got done for his windows had the same tint as in the rear. As you can see from my pic it's not a massive amount darker than factory green tint which is much less than the legal limit.

Edit: I've just read your link and your numbers are slightly out as its 70% transparency not 75 for the front side windows which still means the windows are slightly over but not by much and I don't think you could tell that 5% by looking at them. Ray

I tend to agree with consumerize on this. Round my way the traffic police are HOT on this due to all the little chavs running round in their corsas/peugeots etc with totally black windows...

That glass would definitely earn you a pull round here. And the thing is once pulled you would be ticketed because they measure the transparency with a machine. Not by eye...

Thought I'd better take a pic side on so you can see the windows full tint fitted as I personally think it's not too dark when your sat in, but make your own minds up and feel free to comment Thumbs Up

Doesn't look as dark from this angle. Ray

Ray i totally agree. Not only does it look very smart indeed, but it also doesn't look too dark when viewed directly from the side when you can see the glass on the other side.

The trouble is due to the height of a defender, the cops will probably just see black. Maybe you will be fine. Especially if the police are a little more tolerant down your neck of the woods Thumbs Up

Your vehicle just looks nicer and nicer every time I check up on how your are doing. What a beauty, I hope France went well for you mate, that's if you've been or are back yet... we had a belter this year, Pyrenees is amazing if you haven't already been, blew my mind, some of the views are tears in the eyes sort of stuff. Anyways, hope youre all good. Michael was just telling me a story about a friend of his who slept with a land rover, lonely nights in the desert..

Hi tom, thank you very much Embarassed we did go to France again this year but picked the wrong week unfortunately. We had a couple of days of rain and I mean biblical rain Big Cry a few decent days too so not too bad but the week before and the week after the weather was great where we stayed Rolling Eyes I'll put the idea of the Pyrenees to the mrs but she was talking about Greece next year then she mentioned Cornwall so I've no idea now. The Landrover never missed a beat this year though Thumbs Up Ray

The forum strikes again Big Cry with the post in the eBay/bargain spots section about the alpine stereo upgrade and then someone posting the alpine head unit comparison link I started looking and decided I had to have a new stereo. I don't like USB ports on the front of car stereos and want Bluetooth audio and phone so I had to get one of the top models.

I'll try and get it in later or tomorrow and while the top of the dash is off I'm going to regrease the wiper spindles. With 4v output on the preouts I need to get a couple of amps in then I can get the rest of the planned audio upgrades in Mr. Green Ray
