United Kingdom 2011 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Stornoway Grey
Hi LR90XS2011,

Not something I could really replicate in quantity I'm afraid, it was just a bit of stainless I had knocking about, a bit of measuring , drill and grinder and there they were, finished them by "satinising/ brushing the stainless with a grey scotch pad , and that was it really.

I can happily work out the measurements and do some drawings , won't be anything professional though Embarassed , but will allow someone to copy them that has a water jet/laser cutter.

Let me know if that is of any use ,
Cheers,

Back from a week away with the family in Cornwall, and rolled over the 9k mark.

Promised myself to give the motor a good clean inside and out today. Got up and decided today wasn't the day when I saw the weather Rolling Eyes 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

I know the feeling. Wasn't going to get underneath it in the wet that's for sure!

France 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Corris Grey
Went to watch Froomey on Alpe d'Huez.

Basic stats:

1 x 110SW
4 x 40-something mid-life crisis men. Davo (me), Dougo (NZ), Hillso (Aus), Lenno (UK)
500km round-trip
1 x tent
4 x doss-bags
70 beers (Some learner-beer (Kronie) plus Goudale, Trois Monts, Fischer, Leffe, Afligem, Grimbergen and '21'
16 burgers plus buns
25 sausages
Tommy K, Mayo, Cheese slices
Bag of lettuce
12 litres of water
Crisps
Charcoal
BBQ
Tables and chairs.
Flags
Spotify

Left Cham at 2300hrs and got to the road closure at the bottom of the Aple d'Huez hill after 3 hrs in torrential rain and largest thunderstorms I have seen in 8 years living in the Alps. Sat in the Defender until 0600h before hitting the hill, the first car up after the Gendarmes outriders (Doug chose to cycle up, first rider up as well...), but passing many cars/vans that were not only there from the night before, but some days and even (apparently) weeks before... Dutch Corner was already bedlam and the racing hadn't even started. We picked our spot approx 4km from the finish, nice long straight, great views, just by one of the classic corners and made camp.

0630. Just 10hrs to go until the riders arrive:

0800, sunrise, First beer of the day.

1045, almost Brunch. BBQ grilled Merguez sausage, fresh French bread, dash of mayo...Beer.

1200, crowds start appearing on foot:

1430: Well into things now, Spotify on and playing classic 80's. With music and live feed of the race on our Laptop, Defender becomes the hub for the 'local' supporters. Or simply because it is a Defender Laughing

1600, the 'Caravan' is long since past us and we await the riders.

1630, T-shirt on, flag and beer in hand, Defender vantage point, Go Froomey....

The rest is a blur of beers, burgers, a geordie dressed as Captain Amercia, a 45min walk up the steepest path in Christendom to 1850m for more beers, another burger and finally the first few hours fitful sleep in over 40hrs in a tent pitched on a slope. Did remember discussing amongst us at 0800h that we could not understand the fans jumping in front of cars and riders and that we would never condone such stupidity. After 10hrs of beers, two burgers, a couple of sausages, much music and revelry in 30c heat, this happened:

I got a little carried away...

Returned (via the D526, simply one of the most beautiful roads/valleys I have ever driven and judging by the number of cars, a complete unknown......a 'must do' if you're in the area) the Defender containing 4 broken men (with tans and dehydration), tent (45mins to pack an 'easy' Quechua folding tent between the four of us) 9 litres of water and the bag of lettuce. Plus, obviously, some excellent memories.

I have done many stages of the Tour and enjoyed all of them, but there is something special about AdH. If you ever get the chance, I would strongly recommend the trip. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Not to worry BW, the B is the distributor in the UK not the manufacturer. This one came all the way from Canada courtesy of Patrick at GAP Diagnostics Beta tester offer. Thumbs Up

I must-must-must do a stage next year (or one of the one day classics). Must. I was thinking of the team time trial but maybe I'll head for whatever is the big climb of the tour.

Thanks for the pics.

Love the wheels. Wink

Same as I have for the last 6 weeks! NOTHING!

But I did follow it at 17:45 last night when the garage took it for a test drive ab in guessing the fix didn't work as they've not called me this morning to tell me it has Sad

Well I should look on the bright side, it's not my cars that are having loads of miles out on them driving round the country Very Happy Russell
