It's worth bearing mind the plate below the cubby is pretty thin and the running gear is right below!
Dynamat under the rubber but on top of the plate really helps not just ordinary noise / vibrations but the sub too as less vibration is dissipated into the plate and away.
And more bass into the Landy's body which makes it sound better and you'll get more of a bass feel too!

Also if your cubby is mounted on wood make sure you've got 100% contact between the plate, the wood and the bottom of the cubby as if it isn't again you'll lose some of the sound quality as it won't be fixed down tightly.

Ideally if you wanted best quality although I've never bothered to go down that route you really want a replacement plate that is much much thicker and heavier for better effect but that is easier said than done as it's not just a case of drawing round it and cutting out as it has a locating piece in the underside.

With these subs it's not worth bothering with unless you've got a fairly high powered sub but Dynamatting the plate and making sure it's located and secured very less will all help.

Thanks for the advice Steve Thumbs Up , I've got Dynamat to go in the truck so while the box is removed I'll put some on the plate ect.

The truck will have Dynamat installed, when I get around to it........ The spawn of AndrewS

working towards fitting one to my 2011 model so far have used an ISO extension to allow a splice into the front speaker wires without altering the original LR wiring used male and female bullets that fit straight into Kenwoods loom. I am happy with all the other aspects but am interested in a couple of things

1/ where have people run the wires from the HU to the cubby

2/ where have people picked up a 10 amp ignition switched supply, on the scheme fuse 4 appear to be spare, I don't particularly want to fit an additional relay or separate switch

completed mine and am happy with the results which are much more noticeable than the Kenwood speaker upgrade previously done adds good bass and more general volume DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I've just ordered one of these to install onto the back of an Mobile Storage Systems cubby, is it advisable to fit any form of sound deadening (e.g. Silent Coat) between the sub and cubby or inside the cubby? The seatbox already has Noisekiller applied so hopefully that should help reduce the tinny vibrations from the seatbox lids

If anyone could advise on cable runs and the ignition fed live point for a late TD5 110 that would also be much appreciated Very Happy

Can anyone comment on how the Kenwood compares to the Alpine SWE1200? They both list peak power being 150W with no RMS power listed on the company websites.
