Just got hold of one of the Kenwood KSC Sw11 sub's - am i correct in saying that i just need to connect it via the RCA connections on the standard Alpine stereo (2013 Puma)? (sound-wise. I know it needs power too!) My Disco 'best bits'

The blue remote turn on simply is a switch meaning it's not on all the time but when the HU is on.
Some are even more smart in the fact that the HU can be turned on but in standby with the Amp off but when music is selected or playing it turns it on. There is normally a wire tail on the rear of the HU a few inches long, it's blue with white tracer IIRC. Most makes are like this universally. |

All fitted over Xmas - wow, it makes quite a difference! Thanks for your help. The power-on blue/white wasn't a tail, I had to break into it.
I moved my car-pc off of the back of the cubby, lifted the cubby on spacers, fitted the pc underneath, then fitted the sub on the rear of the cubby. The cubby is slightly too high at the moment, but I'll get a bit of ally bent up to hold the cubby at a slightly lower height - it makes a nice armrest at the moment  My Disco 'best bits'

I never ran the blue wire to the head unit just put mine to a ign feed under the seat , so amp is only powered up with ign , and can park up listen to radio on without amp running
think mines a pioneer one |

My amp is running of an aux battery, so no danger of flattening car battery - not that I listen to it with engine off very often. My Disco 'best bits'

Just fitted the Kenwood KSC-SW11 powered sub-woofer along with Kenwood KFC-E1065 speakers to replace the front LR ones and KFC-E1365s in the rear. These are coupled to Pure Highway H260DBi
DAB Digital Radio/CD with iPod/iPhone Connection and Bluetooth. Whilst the system is a definite upgrade, I'm still playing about with the setup. The HU has, on the face of it, extensive software controls for tweaking the sound. The KSC-SW11 also has a remote but I'm preferring to use the system without this plugged in and setting parameters on the HU. I'm getting buzzing from the rear speakers, I am of the opinion that the standard LR enclosures are not up to much and I reckon the enclosures are important for good performance from the speakers. Overall, better than standard, by far, but would expect more performance. Has anyone, by chance, got a similar setup? |

Brought one myself a while ago, I fitted it up side down to the cubby box. This way you can hide the wires better.
You have to raise the box by 13 mm to route the loom thru. See spacers under the box.

A neat installation.
I mounted mine the right way up on the back of the cubby box and routed the wires inside the box, then out the bottom. Also, I found that, with my speaker setup, I tend to get better results with the supplied remote disconnected and adjusting settings through the head unit. |

Thanks, I will give that go.
The other thing is, my stereo is a Alpine bt 136. Which has settings for the sub. My question is. The display states the option to `Reverse phase subwoffer` ??? Has anyone tried this, I`ve had a go but not really noticed any difference. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

On the remote for the one I fitted (see above) there was the option to reverse phase the SW, didn't seem to make a lot of difference when I tried it

Did you have to get longer bolts? I've got one to go one later, the fixing kit that came with it protrudes out past the unit & would lift it off the cubby box, any advice would be greatly appreciated The spawn of AndrewS
