Nice truck Clemmo Thumbs Up Excellent colour choice Whistle

I agree with most of your observations on the 2.2. I've been driving my new 2.2 for nearly 3 weeks. It is relaxing, quiet and more refined, a considerable improvement, BUT I'd sooner drive my TD5 Mr. Green Its hard to explain but I find the 2.2 drones and lacks character, because its more refined, you could be driving anything ! The TD5 though makes you work for it, sounds gorgeous and has that reassuring rattle Thumbs Up

A lovely comment from Clemmo there: "Of course it's not perfect..we all know that!"

Despite that we absolutely love them Very Happy Sometimes there is more to a car than engineering. I drive and have driven very good cars, but Defender is much more... MY15 Aintree 110 SW - for sale - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic82781.html

The rear load space comes with a thin rubber sheet on the floor..thats it!

So I soundproofed the floor and sides,,( see earlier in thread)
I carpeted the sides and arches..and the result was great.

What I needed now was a storage solution which suited me and allowed my 2 dogs good access.
I wanted to end up with storage and a flat useable loadspace..overcoming the uneven rear arch problem

Looking around the marketplace there are some very good..very expensive solutions.

Here is mine!!

Basically a trimmed 18mm plywood box with a lid and 2 infill panels to make the load space flat.
Tailor-made and less than £50!!
Very happy and the Dogs are too.

I have to say I love this idea and think I will be going down that route, one thing can you please tell me how high a storage box you could get underneath, I know I could measure the wheel arch but I am not in the country at the moment.

Its a great bit of kit thou...well if you have rowdy dogs anyway!!

Clemmo

Thanks for the info. It does look good, and I was very hopeful when I saw they also had a New Zealand website. However the cost including shipping and import duty etc. comes out at $678, or GBP 305 at today's exchange rate! A bit too pricey for me I fear. Crying or Very sad

Clemmo,

Can recommend having the rear door tinted. Had mine done by a place over the back of Bloxwich. Top job and for not a lot of dollar.

Be interested to see your wheel arch under protection solution Thumbs Up 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

Did you have the tinted film?

I was considering replacement glass..I hadn't considered a film..
If so how good is it?

Cheers

The replacement rear glass available from Dave at Vehicle Glazing Specialists (LandyGlass) is much better than a filmed rear window in my opinion! I've got one on mine, and it's so much better than the filmed window before, less scratchy now! Thumbs Up An engine to TDi for!

Replacement glass will always be better than film, but what's the cost difference.

The film on mine is a marginally different shade, but really marginal! 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone
