I was taken to the landrover show in Malvern for Father's Day, spent loads on the kids and treated my other baby to a nice set of black boost alloys brand new for £250 for the five on a show offer that was to good to miss. Very Happy

Towing today
Took the caravan to Beith for a service before the summer holidays. It's the first time I have tried the motor with a decent load on it (apart from lugging the wife's purse around 👍) and I was very happy with it. It towed very well, nice and stable with a wee bit of pitching which you'd expect from a SWB motor.

Fitted back on my recently painted headlight surrounds, lots of work to get them so glossy as they had orange peel effect.

England 2002 Defender 110 Td5 SW Coniston Green
Another one of those testing moments of Land Rover ownership this morning Rolling Eyes Off on the school run and a couple of miles in I got the power loss, belching black smoke and the feeling it was running on about 3 cylinders not the 5 it left the factory with on a slight incline, much worse when it turned into a hill. Stopped in a safe gateway and did a couple of stop, let it sit for a minute or two and restarted. That was a short term fix, approached the next hill and another stop/start session plus a fuel pump purge. That got me up the next two hills, just, got the boy to school after smoking out a few of the other mums on the school run, then I set about pulling the fuel pump out parked outside the school.
Not a lot of evidence of the dreaded diesel bug on the primary gauze on the bottom of the pump but by sloshing the pump up and down in the tank it must have disloged whatever the problem was inside the pump.
It would have probably only taken 20 minutes with emptying the "carefully selected objects" in the rear that were in the way but as per usual a Land Rover in distress usually brings out other owners to have a chat, probably in sympathy.
All done and dusted and gave it a bit of a workout on the way home and all is good again. There's never any rhyme or reason to when I get caught with this, it can do it with a full tank, an allmost empty one and like today a half full tank. One of these days I will have to thoroughly empty and clean the tank, another one of those things on the "todoit" list

Did the tank last weekend, it took about 3hours to remove the towbar bolts and drop/clean it. It was really clogged with bug so worth doing. I snapped a fuel connector and then had to spend a small fortune on a new fuel lone Sad Also its seriously messy, dust everywhere and diesel spillage. That's why I chose to do it on my parents driveway (it was getting steam cleaned this week anyway). At least I now know its good and performance is way better.

Today I fitted the nanocom in between bouts of dehli belly Big Cry
