Good call. He probably would have nicked your 110 at some point down the road. Sometimes being a good Samaritan does not pay. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

Sunday rather than strictly today, and the photos from a different trip too, lugging bees from Bristol to my apiaries in Somerset. At times I'm thinking I should have got a 110.

Sorted a rattling noise I've had for a few months - I'd looked for it on several occasions, even had the gf sit in the back whilst i drove along trying to pinpoint where it was coming from.
Turned out to be this blighter: Click image to enlarge It was difficult to diagnose as when it was bolted to the side of the seat it seemed to be solid, however, the bolts into the rear tub were both loose allowing the slotted bracket to jiggle: Click image to enlarge All the bolts had evidence of threadlock on but when its on the part of the thread that does not engage the captive nut it's rather useless - wonder how many others were fitted by the same person and was it lack of understanding or just didn't care ? So they are all out now: Click image to enlarge Amazing how much the seats moved when the side bolts are removed - they seem to be compressed and twisted to make them line up which does not seem a good thing, so I'm glad they are out. |

Fitted some goodies from Mudstuff. Cubby bin, small nets either side of it and finally some leather door handles.
The latter isn't for bling, but to stop my right leg going numb where the old plastic door handle dig in. Tried their bigger door mirrors - the ones with the small wide angle lens - and found they didn't work for me due to the required angles not being quite right. Probably put them up for sale on here when I can get a round tuit... Dave Green Goddess - 1998 Defender 110 300tdi |

Made the most of it, Soundproofed the whole back, trying a layer of Cloud 9 Underlay on top that I have left from laying a carpet with the original carpet on top of that, manufacturer says "Sound Insulation 43db" so lets see what that means Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Took my grille off as 6 weeks have surpassed since I painted it.
Farecla G10 on it to take off a bit of overspray in the clear making it look matt. Works a treat best stuff I've ever used. (Thanks to Munch on here mentioning Farecla G3 / G10. Ordered some Meguiar's #26 wax too do looking forward to sorting that out too. Lot's to be doing! |

Finally got the window tinting finished. It's been hot and sunny, and I'm impressed with how much cooler it is inside.
Actually removed the rear quarter and alpine windows to tint them off the truck. Alpines were fun, as the rack is in the way. Just lifted up one side at a time with the forklift. Next week, once the 2014 Puma cargo door comes back from paint, it's going on! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Discovered several weeks ago that my transfer box drain plug was slightly leaking. Just enough for a few drops of oil visible hanging from the plug and from the nearby bottom of transfer box, and a few drops of oil accumulating on the concrete floor of my garage space after a week of storage. So nothing major at all, was defined by dealer as just the plug leaking, no seals or other. My dealer over the last two days replaced the drain plug by new, also replaced the transfer filling bolt by new, and I used the opportunity to let them do a full oil change of transfer box, gearbox, and of both diffs. Last time I did that was a year ago. So all clean and fresh liquids now again. Doiuble checked about quantities used, but all fine, a measured 2.2 ltr for gearbox, and the other three until if flows out of the filling plugs.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |
