Tackled a job that I've been putting off today, but needs to be done before the nearside bulkhead to chassis bracket goes back on and gets in the way; drilled out the old exhaust studs, re-tapped and put some new ones in:

I cleaned the mud off one of the wheels and wiped it over with some Corrosion Block (light oil): Click image to enlarge Have to say that there is a bit too much rusty steel and not enough paint on it to play the patina card...Really don't know what to do with them now and I didn't want to paint anything else. As (half) expected, it is taking longer and costing more than I first imagined. But I did make a concious decision to do it properly, at least as far as my own abilities allow as I don't intend doing any of this work again soon and it's a very enjoyable project.
On the positive side, it would be nice to think that the end result will be worth at least what it has cost me to buy and recommission. It should have some value, being a 2-owner, completely original / matching numbers early S2 with 50k miles. |

Yes, I'm really pleased with how they came out. Have binned all paint brushes.

Your wheel nuts on the close up of the wheel are the wrong way round Ray

Coming along beautifully
exactly how id do it with regards to just painting the bulkhead of bodywork. Are the wheel nuts the wrong way round though? My favourite topic on here at the moment, keep up the fab work and the updates. Very jealous |

S1 and early S2s have the same tapered nuts on both ends.
