It's to do with the wiper relays,
You can use the same relay on the rear door wiper to make it intermittent. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Very useful upgrade, and the easiest to do I can think of. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Sorry. I thought this was a well known one!
Anyway you are probably well informed now. But the £1 bit still needs explaining. It is from the scrapyard obviously. The VW 99 relay is fitted to a lot of mid range VWs from the mid 90's. Golfs and Passats are the most plentiful, and the relay is under the dash by the drivers right knee. 99 is marked in big print on the top, a 197 relay is the same but a 19 is not! Going rate is generally £5-10, but my local scrap man is nice to me. You will see a lot of empty sockets before you find one though because they are a popular upgrade for other vehicles. |

^^I have no doubt that Mick Moore are a very capable outfit. They show the below picture on their own website of their well stocked Land Rover parts shelve...

I am doing it slightly different. Those very same reliability upgrade goodies for the SVX will remain at the engineering/manufacturer firm in Germany, and they will install them in their own workshop in the next few weeks. Saves me from having some bloody hand knuckles. Steve, I always can send you some of these here if you need them.... Eric You never actually own a Defender. Thought I'd do a simple job and replace steering damper. Of course the end bolt is 11 years old and doesn't want to come out, so after an hour of type one persuasion and swearing (one very bruised thumb) it's now thinking about what it's done whist swimming in ACF50.
Tomorrow I will come for you, I will find you and I will release you! Nothing's simple is it! |

Taking mine for a run to the tip and then to Ikea to fetch wardrobes, where I hope to be smug about getting a 2m wardrobe into my car rather than having to have it delivered or strapped precariously to the roof!
