110 d/c harsh ride
Have a 110 d/c puma and find the ride very bumpy when empty, dont carry anything much just do a lot of towing and with the trailer on the ride is great, so do i put 100kg in the back or is there a softer spring i could use. Have tried the search but it all seem to be spring lifts

although i have a 90 i have been experiencing a harsh ride as well.
i was looking at changing springs and dampers but my local Indie suggested just change the dampers 1st because they can be very harsh.

i have put new dampers on [Tuffbacks] and i am now experimenting with the tyre pressures.

the ride is sooooo much better with the replacement dampers, it might be worth a try, also check your tyre pressures.

on the 90 i have kept to the recommended 30 at the front and as i never [ very rarely anyway!] carry a heavy load i have dropped the rears from the recommended 38 to 36, 34, 32 & 30 to see what rides best.
38 is too hard
30 & 32 caused tyre wall bounce after hitting bumps
36 seemed OK but i think the overall best ride is best with 34 so i will keep it for a week or so and see how we go.

no idea what tyre pressures you need in the DC but the above might help.
cheers BM52

My Td5 DC had heavy duty suspension but my USW hasn't and is a much softer ride. Russell

I believe that the rear springs on a DC are designed for the load bed of the DC to support a 1000Kg load! Russell

BigRuss, i thought all USW had HD rear springs for the reason of being able to carry 1000kgs? I'm new to the puma USW so don't know, just for some reason thought as above?

Sweep, I am like yourself new the the puma (gave it a one month old wash yesterday) but that was the impression I was give by my dealer. By almeans please correct me if I have been miss lead but is defenatly a softer ride than my DC. Russell

I used to drive (and still have in fleet!) 110 Td5 DC and the ride is firmer than Puma USW I drive now. The DC has no anti roll bars but corners at least as flat as the USW.

OK here's my findings but they dont seem correct so if any one else can shed some light Thumbs Up

Puma 110D/C springs part no RKB500300 w/g/g stripe,

no spring weight listed on any forum i can find or with my local idependant or with Devon 4x4.

Local steeler part department has emailed L/R and their reply is, Rear sping is 72kg newton meter.

Acording to my calcs useing google the spring rate is 637lbs Shocked which i cant belive, i was expecting somthing between 300lbs and 400lbs

Have double checked figure with L/R steeler and they have confirmed 72kg n/m.

am i missing somthing Confused Confused (only spring related answers please) Thumbs Up
