There are two type approved soft A-Bars, 1 for winch and 1 not.
The one that is for a winch has a slightly different mounting and no central bar Mike |

Yes, but the problem with the soft winch bar is that it only fits the winch bumper supplied by LR, which in turn only takes the 'approved' winch, which doesn't help if you want to fits something better (ooh, controversial!).
The traditional steel tubular bars mount to the flat top surface of the bumper whilst the squidgy ones wrap round the front of the bumper. Since the Mantec bumper has a wider winch mounting tray the standard squidgy bars won't fit, but a steel one would. What I really need is a squidgy one that mounts on top of the bumper, but no-one seems to make them. I might see if it is possible to butcher my standard one. I don't really uinderstand why the soft bars are so expensive either - four times the price of a steel seems excessive to me. |

The LR bumper accomodates at least 2 winches - although; having bought the 9.5xp seperately - i think this is one of the best winches anyway.
The Land Rover bumper is type approved as is the a bar - the soft abar has may advantages - ive already staked my claim to no really liking a bars and detesting solid ones. Both these points make it cost more But the if the bumper is square in design at the mounting it rests on top of the square bumper and uses a bracket round to the chassis. Mine happened to be a pig to fit i remember - although i cant recall why - i have a feeling that it may fit on other bumpers Mike |
