Stratsone newcastle said I needed a new oil pump but they don't have the tool to do the job so I've had to wait nearly 2 weeks

Do you mean tool or maybe they are waiting on parts?

No oil lights
And they rekon they've never ever had to do an oil pump change

They don't have the tool

Cheers

As long as you have a Defender (LD) and your last 6 in the VIN are in the published range, it applies to you Smile

Well ... LR Germany confirmed to me in writing that my vehicle - though VIN clearly falls within the specified range- was definitely NOT affected by the campaign (LD4126xx, registered Nov. 2011) ....

The fact that I can see the campaign listed for my car on the English version of Topix does not - so they told me - automatically mean that it is affected .... on the German version of Topix there is nothing listed for my 90 at the moment.

Rolling Eyes

Axel, the truth may be a bit different than what they tell you now. Land Rover Germany probably strictly follow the corporate rules as to communication, something we often see here in Land Rover Customer Relations posts also.
But I know from someone here in Switzerland that his VIN falls within the range of affected vehicles, but the recall has simply not started here yet, so Land Rover Switzerland and the dealers do not have any formal info about it yet, and nothing is on topix yet either, so they formally see nothing about a recall,..... yet.
But the Swiss dealer said that they understand that here in Switzerland the recall is planned to be done as of end April, and then suddenly it all should appear for those within the applicable VIN range.
So maybe Germany, and other countries, are a similar case than what we have here. So keep checking. Thumbs Up
Eric

Hi Eric,

yes ... I agree ... That's what I thought, too .... I assume it may take a while to get the campaign organised ... Will keep on checking! Best Regards,

Axel

Had my oil pump work done today. Nice shiny sump now fitted. And they found an oil leak that they didn't see 3 weeks ago when it was last in. Even though it was there then. So gearbox out again this week. Twice now in 3 weeks 110 D250 SE HT

No idea, but I do know that the dealership wasn't aware that my 110 needed it. I questioned it when I dropped it off and they said they would look into it. They rang a few days later to say the work was being done.
Shame they can do that work, fix the oil leak that wasn't reported but still fail to rectify the original problem. That it's been in 3 times for now Sad Sad 110 D250 SE HT

Probably because if its the same sealer as used on the front timing cover its esay to bend the flange when removing as the sealer used is like silkaflex strength

with the front cover its cheaper to buy a new one then the labour time trying to remove the cover without damage and a slight bend in it will cause oil leak

Getting nervous as my out of guarantee 2012 (chassis number within the listed range) 2.2 hasnīt attracted the attention of Land Rover Germany, yet.

I called up their hotline this morning, quoting the bulletin mailed here. The nice young lady checked on my chassis number and discovered two hoses are listed on recall, but no oil pump. I was a little bit more persuasive and she checked further.
Then she said that the bulletin for Germany wouldnīt be issued for another three weeks.....

I think she sensed how I was going to respond to that, and said that I should go to the agreed local dealer and get the oil pump, sump and associated done immediately, confirming cover from LRD.

I donīt need any more encouragement than that. 1998 Tdi 90 SW,

When I brought the Landy in to the dealer yesterday to have the summer tyres put on, I related to them the conversation with LR Germany. They checked my chassis number and confirmed that the turbo hose and a water pipe were listed to be replaced, and that the oil pump mod would go online in about two weeks.

Five minutes later the mechanic returned from the workshop and suggested that the water pipe was in quite a bad state. A factory assembly error meant that the hoseclamp from another pipe was chafing said water pipe.

The turbo hose apparently has a habit of bellowing under the combined heat and pressure, and my vehicle would now get the improved version.

The best news was that having sent me off in a spare vehicle, they decided to do the oil pump and sump while they were about it.

Just picked it up, and I would swear that the oil light went out noticeably quicker than before, when I started the motor.

Excellent service, Iīd say! 1998 Tdi 90 SW,

Just had my Q421 recall done by dealer in Maidstone & wondering if this would require a 43mile test drive down motorway to Ashford and back with 2 staff ,no wonder they have to charge the prices they do .
My car is fitted with trackers & a camera that they turned of after a hour of their trip out.
Just wondered what you recon

Did get some new bits plus the car wash......but cost me 2 gallons of fuel.

I don't think that's acceptable at all Mad
I've just had mine done including a very good clean inside and out.
When we picked it up I said to the wife which do you want to drive back and she said the DC and I spent the whole 45 min drive back along the Sussex and surrey roads smiling looking at it.
God I love my defender Very Happy for all its problems and quirks It's good to be back from the dark side

Wholly unacceptable without an explanation. I would be inviting the Dealer Principal to an interview without coffee!

I regularly leave my GTrek II GPS recorder in vehicles when they are collected for service. It's always interesting to see the various different routes taken to and from the various dealerships by the drivers and the speeds driven.

It's almost accurate enough to see the time on the ramps!

If I was the dealer I reckon I'd try my hand at "is was in the middle of a dpf cycle and they did not want to interupt it so had to keep driving." and then to get off the back foot "we have not charged you for the extra time" Laughing
