Via BAS on another thread. Where LD = Land Rover defender, not the letters in your vin.

It would appear I am just outside of the end of that vin range by two digits.

Topix is still showing the campaign as open where necessary. The campaign certainly hasn't ended. Have you owned your Defender since new Dobby? An engine to TDi for!

Recently discovered this thread ............... and my VIN falls in the range.
The service history for my 2012 vehicle is up to date (main dealer service stamps), but as a third owner I have no information available to indicate that Q421 has been addressed. I have registered (but not paid for a subscription) with Topix and get the information "No outstanding Field Service Actions required" - but that doesn't convince me that Q421 has been carried out. An initial main dealer inquiry got a quick, not too convincing " everything seems fine with your vehicle" response from the service receptionist I spoke to, followed by a bit of a fob off about my service history being carried out by more than one main dealer. Before getting back to the main dealer in search of a more convincing response. Please, can someone confirm that: A main dealer should be able to confirm if Q421 oil pump replacement was carried out at some point? This information is available a main dealer via their level of access to Topix? |

Pat, this is the problem I had too. You need to get the dealer to look on their dealer direct warranty system in order to see what work they've actually carried out. All the recall and warranty repairs are reported there.

Thanks Dobby. It started with a kiss, never thought it would come to this.

Several main dealer calls later ...... over 3 days!
Don't you just know what's going to happen when you get ........ "I'll get someone to call you back." Contacted the main dealers who serviced my vehicle before I took ownership. Guy Salmon, Knutsford (helpful, but couldn't confirm Q421), Guy Salmon, Coventry (not so helpful, couldn't confirm Q421). I aborted several calls to LR Customer Services (too long on hold), but then got a call back from LR Customer Services. Very helpful, confirmed in 2 minutes that Q421 had been carried out at the dealers where I purchased my Defender from, Yeovil LR. As Dobby said in his reply, information is stored in the Extended Warranty data that LR keep, apparently LR dealers don't have access to this information and are unable to cross reference between dealerships. A quick call to Yeovil LR confirmed Q421 was carried out by them whilst they had the vehicle for sale. In all fairness, the above dealers would have been able to confirm Q421 if they had carried out the work. My advice, if you need a Q421 check - go straight to LR Customer Services (don't wait on hold, they know you have called and call you back - or at least that's how it worked for me). It started with a kiss, never thought it would come to this. SIII CSW Safari, limestone, (JAC 914N). Where is she now? It's not a car, it's a way of life! |

Can anyone clarify whether my 2012 110 USW needs the recall (Q421) repair on the oil pump? The recall states Vin range LD405037 to LD443988. My Vin number falls in this range but the number is preceded by 'CA' not 'LD'. Discovery 4 HSE

Hi Sammyboy,
I think if you enrol on the JLR TOPIX system (free for limited functionality) then it will show you if a recall is still outstanding for your vehicle. Plus you can see other info about your Defender. And/or, give a JLR dealer a call and ask them to check. |
