Finally got a couple of nuts so I can put the spare wheel on the back. Dog is not going to be happy that I have removed his throne.

Crossmember has been fading and had a couple of tiny speckles of rust. Inspired by threads on the forum I wire-wooled it, 2 coats of primer and 4 thin coats of satin topcoat! Looks OK .
Thanks for giving me the confidence to do this simple job myself! Click image to enlarge 2011 Defender 90 SW 2006 Discovery 3 HSE |

From Vancouver to Moab sounds like a dream road trip, and even more so in your own Defender.
I just looked it up - its "only" 1944 Kilometers crossing Washington State, driving down the border between Oregon and Idaho, then along the border to Colorado and into Utah. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons Last edited by Wild Card 90 on 10th Mar 2015 1:08pm. Fitted the upgrade crystal headlights and Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited bulbs. Almost worth doing for the aesthetics alone!
Click image to enlarge I definitely want to upgrade the loom, and also the bezels were looking a bit tired so will look at replacing those too. Now I'm thinking the front end needs headlight guards to finish it off - any recommendations? Thanks - they are Autopal branded, from Powerful UK on eBay. Not the "official" Wipac ones but E-marked, glass lenses etc. Delivered here to NZ in less than a week for less than the price of locally-sourced ones - no wonder so many businesses are in trouble these days!
The bulbs were also from eBay - this time AutolightsdirectUK - again heaps cheaper than here and delivered 4 days after I ordered them. |

Today I got the rooftop tent mounted on the rack. The spare is up there until my Puma doors arrive next month, once the new back door is on, I'm adding a swing away carrier.
Scene lights are done on the rear. # way Carling switch in the front (off, triggered by reverse, or on) plus a carling switch at the rear to turn the lights on and off while camping. 12V plug is in, tapped into the purple permanent power wire from the right side, but the plug is on the left, same side as the fridge. (need to get the new rear ladder powder coated once I'm back from Utah). Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |
