I know the JW Speakers have just been upgraded. Are these the current Noldens?
http://www.4x4overlander.com/product/nolde...-chrome-2/ Is that a good price? Still seems eye wateringly expensive - are they really THAT good? |

Based on my personal experience and the history available on the JW Speaker brand, Noldens would for me be worth the extra expense purely on the IP rating itself. IP rating as a Marine Engineer far outweighs the publicised 'bunfighting' over the light intensity and what they kick out. Also a quick look on the forum and several people have switched from one brand to the other......

Everone will profess that what they have is the best.....Except me.... I have J W Speakers albeit not Evos and they have been problematic with water ingress and corrosion....Evos have not been about long and maybe they are better than their predecessors despite the IP rating remaining the same. Make of it what you will but in my honest opinion J W Speakers are rubbish and there is much publicity about these issues with the 8700s on this forum as well as a couple of quirks with the Evos too!!!!! I will be replacing as others have done with Noldens. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Better than they were, the J W Speakers were nearly a grand a pair when they first came out. Buy a set of each and try them out. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I think there all likely to be a great improvement on standard
What I cant understand though is people moaning on about speakers being rubbish when they have the oldest type. I can see whining if you have the current ones fitted. It just strikes me for example of constantly going on that new fords are all rusty heaps when you have an 90's escort, basically it means nothing now. My bias is I bought a set of speaker evo's second hand that still look like new. Although its not bias as think all the new ones seem very good Defender puma dormobile camper Last edited by SailingTom on 20th Jan 2015 7:02pm. Edited 1 time in total |

So does £575 seem a reasonable price?
Are the JW Speakers that much more? |

I have the Speaker Evo's and have done so for over a year (no complaints from me as I find them to be excellent with no problems) - with regards the price of the Nolden's, I think that is a fair price and you will struggle to find them much cheaper if at all. 2016 Defender 90xs SW - Santorini Black with Silver Pack

Assuming some members cannot afford £500 for a pair of LED Headlamps, can anyone recommend a good, direct fit, bulb replacement that adds a bit more oomph? One of these Phillips, Bosch or Osram upgrades? Monsieur Le Grenadier

From another thread.....
"Wipac crystals and Osram Nightbreakers (this is an inexpensive and wholly adequate lighting upgrade)." Do a search under 'Nightbreakers' or 'Wipac' and there's quite a lot good said about the combination. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
