I think a convoy to lode lane would be a great.
We can ask Ryan at Land Rover if they will supply tea and biscuits to everyone who makes it |

Seriously I think a huge convoy to the factory with loads of defenders of different age/colour would be a fab and fitting end to production at Lode Lane. There wouldn't be a dry eye for miles. If it wasn't for the humble defender I would never have met my wife (who's more LR mad than me), would never have the hobby I have, or met some of the brilliant people I've met, or have the skill set for repairing site vehicles that has kept me fed and watered for years.
I owe the defender a great debt really. |

I'm definitely up for a convoy to lode lane. I parked mine outside the gate on the way to Cornwall to take a picture as I was so impressed it got that far! As defender enthusiasts there's no way we can all let such a historical day to without marking it.

All go on mass to Solihull for the last shift of Defender production. Not bad PR for them too! Everyone loves a The Defender.

Well that would be bloody impressive, and as you say, massive PR for the company - I wonder if they would appreciate it! Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

How about meeting at Solihull, doing a mass lap of Birmingham on the motorway and then back to Solihull? 2.2 90 XS

I really support the idea of Red Wharf Bay to Lode Lane. It would be an awesome & uplifting event which would make quite a spectacle!!
As a pro film-maker I would be willing to get involved by creating a documentary about the event - and even have a go at upstaging Landrover's recent promo by organising an aerial shot of hundreds of land rovers forming the outline of one land rover in the sand (as per the sand drawing). However this sort of event needs an organising committee to pull it off. Things to consider apart from the date & time, are the tidal times at RWB (i.e. when the sea is out), initial meeting point (ideally on the beach), the route (preferably not just motorway, but something that reflects its countryside credentials, and then after arriving at Lode Lane a run-off location to park up and perhaps have a barbecue! The event could certainly attract some sponsors, just like the London to Brighton run (maybe talk to Defender2 site sponsors first) Either way this event could make global news and be the biggest motoring statements of the year! So, who else is in? 2015 110 XS CSW Montalcino Red with Black Pack |
