Goodbye wave to the old Defender...?
Is there an initiative to say goodbye to the Defender as it exists wright now before the new one is introduced?
I believe a lot of people all over the world would welcome that and many close enough to the UK would love to cross the channel and join the event.

Should attrackt thousands of Defenders and would give a clear signal to the company to not forget us in their new concept.

I don't think the company would mind such an event and would very much love the attention to the brand.

As I'm still quite new to Land Rover (2009) and even more to Defenders (2013), I don't know much about the history compared to others. So I suggest to keep the ideas flowing and maybe in a couple of months we can build a poll on it.

As I'm not Brittish I don't know what's feasable or not but if there's a consensus maybe someone will rise up an take an initiative.

In todays world of social media I suspect just about everybody with a Defender can be reached in the months following to mobilise thousands of Defender enthousiast to this event.

In this light one should take into account a lot of accomodation will need to be accessible. i think of meadows and such for camping which makes me think towards environmental and sanitation issues and the space and tollerances of the people living nearby.

A trip as such does not seem feasable, I'd go more for a "meet" style event - Daytona motorbikes spring to mind.
I don't know how much room and how big the Petersborough event is, but can it handle these numbers?

Timing is another factor: after harvest vs weather issues vs historical date vs end of the year...

Entertainment is also a factor: there may be some Defender owners in a band or any other entertaining hobby. Otherwise it'll just be a huge traffic jam and chaos.

The one thing I would also love to see happening is that it's free! I'm not talking about the accomodations but the event as such. It should not have a commercial feel to it, but a celebratory one.

Call me romantic, but that would be something I would love to see happening.

Maybe if a 'big' event couldn't be organised, how about a national/international 'day' where there are meets and/or runs organised regionally, getting as many out and seen as possible? A bit like the 'Drive it Day' for classic cars. Pete

Thumbs Up

That is a good idea, more accessible. Could happen anywhere and everywhere.

Should be the same day everywhere. A symbolic day.
When did the first Series-I, "Ninty" or "One-Ten" and/or "Defender" go in production or leave the company?
