Sorry Embarassed the service manager made a point last week he would do that first and ensure it worked before he moved on to the other tasks...so it was in on Wednesday Mike

Update !

Clutch number three measured against a brand new clutch - exactly the same - still don't know if they are the same batch.

Clutch number three replaced with number four - still the problem exists.

Dealer now going to replace all pipe work on Tuesday.

What have LR technical got to say about it - nothing, nobody can get hold of them.

I was just about to post a new thread

Clutch no 3 - WOW

Totally different - the clutch is as light as anything - running through the box perfectly, odd snagg but no more than i would be happy to accept with this type of box.

I did immediately wonder if the bite was in the same place given how light it was - but driving home its seems fine.

Low speed reverse under load (no revs) noise gone - just normal gurgle of the transmission, just as the new ford etc.

In short This clutch is amazingly different to the last 2 - good on Guy Salmon Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Still got to check the other jobs though Whistle Mike

My SVX went in for her second surgical intervention today. Vital signs showed she should recover surgery without loss of any physical function, but I still am very concerned. The head surgeon at the dealers better have clean hands and not have been on the pi.. last night. .... In all honesty I hope this clutch cures the problem, at the moment I think the wife's TD5 90 is a much better vehicle. I am tired of visiting Land Rover I.C.U. I think next time a Priest or Rabbi or the like may be needed. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

I noticed very small spot of fluid on the clutch peddle the day before I took it in for clutch rattle. The dealer rang me this morning and told me the hydrauilcs leak was from the master cyl and they will fix it. New guy could not find clutch death rattle. After instructions from me, and I did not want to wreck his day, I suggested he start the engine and then stop it without depressing the clutch. Have not heared enything since, we will see. My wife and I are now at the stage of talking about getting rid of this problem, a situation made worse by how great a vehicle her TD5 90 seems to be. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

I know how you feel and the same thing has crossed my mind over the last 10 days but I will not let two blokes sat in a shed in Solihull drinking tea, aka LT tech support, defeat me Laughing

We traded a Jag V8 s type and cash to buy the TD5 ninty, hard to find in good nick in Australia, have spent 4 grand on mods and its fantastic, the SVX 110 has cost me twice that and I am close to giving up. Its done only 20,00 km. I think if the thing does another clutch after this it may well be gone

Hot off the press !

The clutch plates have now been eliminated as a cause of my vehicles problem. The new clutch has been removed and fitted to another vehicle and the operation is perfect.

The dealer has measured the engage point of my vehicle and it is 23mm from the floor. They have measured a brand new vehicle and it is 50+ mm from the floor - probably where mine was before they changed the clutch.

As they have changed everything there is something related to the clutch operation but not the clutch mechanism itself causing the problem.

A stupid question but does anybody know if the brake vacuum pump is in any way linked to clutch operation ?

Just had a phone call from the service dept who now say that the rattle is "within normal parameters" and I can collect it tomorrow. Now starts the battle. I am thinking of getting them to fire up and turn of another Puma next to mine to see if it shares these "parameters" and go from there. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
