Bob,

Is making contact with the LR Technical team something which you instigate or the dealer??

Do you have a number.

Thanks

The dealer instigates contact with LR tech support I'm afraid.

I will see if the dealer will divulge any contact details next time I speak with them.

You cound try LR customer support, they have been very helpful the last couple of times I have spoken to them.

the clutch bites at about 1/4" off the floor. It has had a new slave cylinder and new master cylinder plus revised pipework. After the new master was fitted last night everything appeared to be fixed, the same as at the weekend. However, after being parked overnight the clutch bite position returned to 1/4" off the floor. The dealer agrees that the vehicle is undriveable and the problem is now with the LR technical team.

Exactly the same thing happened to me - it spent 2 days in the workshop with them trying to bleed it and stuff, then they started saying they wanted to get permission from LR to remove the box and clutch to see what was wrong. The next day a GOOD mechanic came back to work after 3 days holiday and quietly stated that it just needs some or other thing adjusted or set....(i don't know what it was, i was too relieved to even bother)
Perfect now, nice strong clutch at last (i hope it lasts!)

Any chance you could find out what it was ?

It would be much appreciated - I am getting fed up with FL2's.

I have the contact details for the technical team (family Whistle ) but there is no point you contacting them as they a)wont talk to you b) wont act if they do and c) cant do anything anyway.

It has to come through the dealer - warranty control the parts and versions and again there is a strict process they will not deviate from.

As for the noise, yes same deal - 30 mile drive on sunday in the heat. Pulled into the car park, low speed (with rev's) rattle, clatter etc. The noise seems to be when worked hard and or hot, followed by low speed work. The difficult selection seems to be when cold. Probably one fault leading to the other.

Version 2 of the clutch (the version fitted to the current production run) is the official fix should "customer raise concern" version 3 is restricted to proved and identified fault of version 2 (2nd fit) eg if you have version 2 you will get it again before they consider the 3 version of the clutch. I have been told that from 2 sources now. Mike

back from the dealer. The clutch (v2) plate had an uneven wear, i.e. On both sides the wear suggest there is contact on the outer and inner edges of the plate. Shocked

Anyway the plate look quite sh11ty compared to a Td5, which has less torque. Puma 110" SW

Thanks for that Mike.

As I am on number two of version two maybe my dealer will try the restricted version today.

Have you got your vehicle back yet - if so, has the problem been resolved ?

Latest guess from LR tehnical support Laughing

They think the clutch plates on the newly fitted clutch are to thin Shocked

Problem is my dealer was supposed to have a new clutch delivered this morning but it didn't turn up. They have been told to compare the two.

This begs the question, what if there are a faulty batch of clutches and they are both from the same batch ?
Do LR have no technical specs they can compare against ?

The mechanic working on my car can now remove the gearbox blindfold quicker than an F1 tyre stop !

Correct !

Also no QA whan parts arrive from the supplier by the looks of it , otherwise they would have been rejected.

I can't wait to see what Saturday brings !

Two weeks and counting to replace a clutch - time for more LR compensation me thinks Laughing

I have to say, my dealer has been excellent throughout the whole episode - and we can have a laugh about the problem - better than crying I suppose.
