puma alarm fault
Hi has anyone got any ideas what could be wrong with the alarm on my 2007 hard top 90 , When I set the alarm everything seems ok for a few hours then for no reason the alarm goes of , it has the interior sensor fitted above drivers head . Is it a common fault or is it a case of having to go get it plugged in to diagnostics . Ive had it a month and its been going of now for a week on and off . Its really annoying in middle of night . Is there a workshop manual available for the puma yet ive seen the cd versions on ebay but the feedback doesent look good saying they don't download . cheers daz ,.

Anything else happen when alarm goes off?
Doors unlock when it sounds?
Does it do it more if it rains?
Have you tried putting tape over the volumetric sensor?
If it gets really bad you can lock with the key, and alarm will not be set but immobiliser will be Thumbs Up

Could it be the battery? Our Def is the main driver but Mrs GLP's occasional good weather car (convertible) has to be permanently on charge when not regularly used or the alarm triggers when the voltage drops. Cheers, Guy.

I think the 'popular' problem is wiring to door switches. When the wiring is failing I think this is one of the tell tales.

Stand to be corrected though.

Good luck in resolving.

Hi thanks for reply , Heres what ive done so far , Checked door switches and replaced passenger door one cos it was sticking a little , I didn't think of putting tape over sensor but ive done it this afternoon , Alarm has been set now since 2oclock and has not gone of yet but normally waits till middle of night . IS it possible to disable alarm and immobiliser and get a thatcham Clifford or cobra alarm fitted . I will keep you all posted what happens next , Cheers daz .

I had the same problem on my Defender 130 MY2007
I searched for one year. It was a thread that went to the roof light which pinched at the dashboard. Since one month, more problems. :D

The alarm in my MY13 90 goes off occasionally when you unlock, get in and turn the ignition. You have to go through a series of unlocking/locking with the fob to get it to reset. Its very random, and the alarm is loud! Intend to get it looked at when next in for warranty work or service.

Hi all thanks for replys , Since putting some tape over the sensor the alarm seems to be behaving so im guessing its the sensor that's at fault or the landy spider that I haven't seen yet coming out to play .

cheers daz ..

Hi Daz I mean the main battery like not enough power to start or just start on turn over . Flat battery in the morning or a few days later Another thing to look at is Parasitic current Drain ie whats draining the battery after switch off youll be surprised what still pulls current from the battery some car radios even switched off can pull 160 milliamp switched off, a tracker will pull nearly an amp so on a 90 amp battery 3 days and your flat, if your alarm the 10 AS sees a voltage drop it will activate, a current draw tester is around a £10 or less well worth its salt it cured my battery drain by identifying where my current drain lay . so are you having to charge your battery often ? or is it current drain process of illimination it could also could just be a faulty 10 AS unit, my problem was Parasitic current drain items taking power from the battery even everything switched off alarm seeing voltage drop activating the alarm Finding the actual cause is a ball ache because no two faults the same but heres a start so have you added any new electrics at all ?, how olds the landy/battery ?

Why not plug in a nanocom type thing and reduce the sensitivity of the sensor?
