It is an organised chaos but that is part off the fun.

The event is more or less the same time off the year. Just show up pay the 25 euro's and drive on the beach.
A ride in a Dakar truck or army truck are for free. And the Dakar Trucks are an experience.

the problem with the steering rod, I think a combination off wide tyres and hard landing in soft sand while braking and not even have the standard bracket below the diff. I didn't see it happen I just happen to drive a bit behind them and they didn't have a clue how to make a quick 'repair'. Roel

These were a really easy fit probably took longer to remove the excellent packaging they came in than to fit them ! Was also an good excuse to get the spanners out too, don't do to much of that these days. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Braved the Bank holiday traffic in order to move jobs, with the help of a 110 and a newly painted sankey trailer!
Didin't realise I had so much kit, thank God for the trailer, it was full along with the back! Shocked

I spent all day Sunday and Monday cleaning and treating the chassis of the 130.

I used a ph neutral snow foam and jet wash to start the process, followed by Bilt Hamber Surfex HD (undiluted) to get rid of the grease. Once the chassis was dry I filled all of the voids I could find with Dynax S50 before applying four cans of Dynax UC to the outside of the chassis, axles, springs and other hardware.

I'm not certain that the application of S50 was comprehensive (I used 3 750ml cans but a lot of that ended up in the road Whistle) so I'm probably going to buy another couple of cans and top the treatment up when I'm next given a day release by SWMBO.

I'm hoping that I won't have to do that again in a hurry...

Picked up my Landy from Joe at JR Classics this morning. Had a thorough Dinitrol treatment. Very pleased with his work and a thoroughly decent person to deal with. Well happy Thumbs Up

Not today but yesterday, another trip from home to work then to Canterbury with the girlfriends metalwork.

Journey from work to Canterbury was gorgeous driving along in the sunshine but the journey home had to go via the M25 because of road closures so made an extra 25 miles on the journey. Still cruising along at 55 listening to my music on an empty motorway was lovely!

Then this morning my hour commute took 2 and a half because of a crash on the A21. Spent a hour sat with the engine off waiting for the police to clear up the mess though did take in the surroundings and make another mental list of "To-Do"

Started to repair the rear passenger door. Plenty of rust to sort out.

Repair. The repairs have started. If the rain stops, I might just post a pic of the one section that has been repaired.

I did find there is a central brace that runs across the middle of the door that had also rotted away so that has been cut part way across and a new section of out of 1mm zintec plate has been shaped (well almost the same shape) that will replace the rusted section.

The section behind the door car has been cut out and a plate made to fit in the gap which fits OK, just needs the rear side painting and then welding in tomorrow (if the rain stays away) 1999 Defender TD5 110

More door repairs. Got a time slot with no rain, so out with the welder and grinder.
