265'S Better for everyday but 285's give more clearance off road (33" tyres v 31""), if you don't like the width of 285's you can go 255/85/16 for 33" without needing the wider rims Thumbs Up

255/85/R16 BFG MT for us.

Steering stops adjusted so that tyres just touch the radius arms

Brendan

Do you adjust your speedo for the extra radius? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

I ran 285s no problem on boosts for 3 years, wound the lock stops right in and just eased back on the steering when they kissed the radius arms You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things

Sorry to bring this 285/75/16 debate up again.... but I found this on the http://www.procomp.com.au/ site claiming a 7inch rim is the minimum required rim size for there 285/75/16 all terrain...... so does any other tyre manufactures claim this as a minimum....

Don't know about that but I have always believed that for 285's it is a minimum of 8". But as others have said they run them on narrower wheels without any problem. Me I use 8.5". I personally would not want to go any wider because of the potential for wheel bearing wear.
