Andy is right, basically you are filtering the mist/blowby.

You end up with a cleaner air and some oil, both of which can be returned. The air back into the pre turbo pipe and the oil into the sump. I prefer to collect and dispose of the oil and top up with fresh oil when needed.

Hello LR90XS2011,

Designed to do a similar job, however I cannot see it doing as good a job. Plus the Provent regulates crankcase pressure plus has a huge prv in the lid to prevent crankcase over pressure in case of a problem. It uses the cyclone effect too and also filters what is not cycloned out, the 300tdi filter does not do this.

Don't forget the 300tdi filter is designed for a lower powered engine, provent is good for up to 250kw so still well within its limits even with a remap.

They are expensive but are a quality part with many features, nice and simple though I can't see it ever going wrong just a filter change when needed and if you forget this the lid prv will prevent over pressure.
