Chaulky i always get over 280 miles per tank but its never 30 plus in terms of mpg - although mines only done 3.5k apparently the do loosen, although the book value isnt over 30.
Just on how to drive them - The harder i drive my disco the better its mpg return! (having had it since 1 year old ive tallied a reasonably good log now its done 118,000!) the lowest ever (just before a service and pushing it hard) was 27.9 the highest was 35.7 most often range seen 30-32. Its just returned 31.1 for example and last fueling 30.2 With what mine lugs around as long as it keep 27-28 ill be happy. Mike |

not necessarily speedo generally under read on std vehicle. if you have 235.85s on its about 6-10% over from true on std speedo pinion, fit the older 205 pinion and it will read closer to the acutal miles you are doing compared to GPS. or running 255.85s as Tim has on a 235.85 pinion will actually give the closest to true reading on mileage rather than the 6-7% they generally over read. i think 10% is the max legal they can overread. No idea ?? but will be interested to see if you notice any difference,,
They keep telling me, their is nothing they can change/fix/adjust, to affect the fuel consumption [/quote] Since having the faulty fuel switch replaced , I have noticed an improvement in my mpg, its now up to about 26/27mpg with similar driving to before. Thats inc. running 285 Bfgs A/T. Every little bit helps |

Since owning my 90 XS SW and using the "filling up and measuring the mileage covered" method:
1200 miles - 26.9 mpg This includes the first 800 miles with roof bars and a landrover roof box on touring Scotland. About 1 mpg less than my previous TD5 110, but expect it to get better as engine loosens up. Quite happy (this term is relative as I'm never happy paying for diesel at £1.32 a litre ) Stornoway Grey 90 XS Focus C-Max Tdci Kawasaki ZX6R C6f |

For most of its first 4500km (2800 miles) from new mine has towed a 1.5 tonne trailer and carried 500kg of gear in the 110. I'm currently on the first full tank to be used without towing so I'm interested to see what I get. Over the 4500km it averaged 13.6L/100km or 21mpg.
Also the 4500km breaks down to about 270km without the trailer (but around towns), 680km of remote dirt track with lots of dust and water crossings and the rest was highway driving. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

Actually have just filled up at Sainsbury's at £1.20 per litre plus I had a 5p a litre off voucher so a very reasonable £1.15 per litre.
Never thought I would see the day when I was happy paying £5.22 a gallon!!!!!!!! Stornoway Grey 90 XS Focus C-Max Tdci Kawasaki ZX6R C6f |

90's just been serviced and the filled it up and the mpg is down to 25 and seems to be doing slightly less miles on this tank...cant decide on the next action - wait or report it as it used to do 29! Mike

Well,
I read this post some days ago and I like to point something. During the first month our Defender gave around 23 - 24 mpg that was in line with the figures here. But in the first oil change the dealer inform us that they have the authorization of LR to put a Mobil 1 SAE 10W40. I complain about this to LR UK but without results (never answer me). Saddly I saw that my mpg were reduced to 19 - 20 mpg and I inmediately suspect about the oil but the dealer deny that the oil can affect the consumption. Finally I bougth my own oil (Liquimoly) that fulfill all the specs and guess what? Again my consumption is 23 - 24 mpg. At the current diesel price here in Chile and after 25.000 km with the Mobil oil I lost US$600 So, be carefull with the oil that you put inside your motor!
