Here's another picture that shows the pin arrangement. Interestingly, this picture also shows that there are two versions of this relay - one shorter than the other as shown top right.
The one I've got is the taller one shown in the first picture and top left in this picture. I was led to believe that they are interchangeable, but if both of those you're having trouble with are the shorter version then perhaps that's not the case? Ha. I never gave it a thought that the OP's pic shows a smaller one It's also in a different position to mine, as mine are fixed to the top face of the instrument casing rather than the bottom.
I've just had a quick check of the relay that I removed (in the rain!) and it is, indeed, AMR2341. A sort of reddy-brown colour, I guess Yes, I used the 'feel for the click' method to find the right one. They all seem to be individually mounted, so I guess the specific position depends on the order that the tech picked them up in. Hi All,
The relay I changed was also a ready brown in colour, it was mounted to the top rear of the instrument cluster in the far right hand spot. this could have been moved as I have had an alarm fitted, im definitely removing the correct relay as without either relay present the intermittent wiper will not function. Its almost like the VW99 relay is not receiving the park signal or something, although it works with standard relay fitted. When the vehicle is stationary the intermittent function works fine, but when using it when moving it sometimes parks the wipers in the wrong position on the screen ( up the middle and at full wipe). I have had the original relay out and have bounced it around a bit with intermittent function going to simulate a bumpy road and all works fine! Is the park function on the wiper motor adjustable at all? I will look over the wiring diagram and figure out how and what triggers the relay. Thanks. |

Yep, sounds like a description of the same position as mine. If you've got an issue with the park switch then it sounds plausible that it's the cause of your problems. They aren't adjustable, AFAIK, but they are replaceable. Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Hi LandRoverAnorak
I will have a look at the park switch at the weekend and replace if required, hopefully it will fix all of my wiper problems! I will keep ya posted. Thanks |

Bit of a thread revival .... But for the record the short 99 works fine on mine, which is a 2000 pre face lift model.
Additionally the relay is in the central fuse compartment, over the gearbox tunnel, on these models. |

Hi Mark, get on with that rewiring out on your motor instead of playing on the computer seeing as a week off goes by all too quickly!! I must admit since fitting mine I very rarely use the normal "wipers on all the time", if it is constant rain I usually put a short delay on the intermittent wipe, it seems to stop the wipers bouncing when in continuous use and in my eyes they may last a bit longer.

Had to go to local scrap-dealer today as have a couple of minor modifications on the go. I priced up this relay from Breeze my local VW dealer and when told the price I immediately binned the idea.
Once I'd sourced what I was after at the scrappies I had a flit round the VWs and eventually found one with the relays still fitted. At the princely sum of £1 it must be a Billy Bargain.... Anybody know if this relay (or similar) is available in a 24volt version?
Cheers! |

K9F, Thanks! I`ll have a search around tonight! Did find that the likes of Paddocks are now selling this relay as a new part with LR part no. Around £30 or so!
