Yes they are bonnet security hinges.

Slows down the thieving scumbags.

To best of my knowledge there are three types of security hinges.

Those above are from Off Road tec and then there are the Entreq ones. We stock both of those.

Then there are the GMB ones stocked by Kevin at Mud

But there is still (on view) access to a fixing bolt. So what deterrent are any such really, on their own?

Perhaps under-bonnet hinges in addition would be better, if such an adaption is possible. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

I'm ok I have lockable flush bonnet pins Mr. Green

The main reason for me fitting them TBH was to get rid of the silly plastic insert Mad

I'd lime to know this as well. Do they stop the bonnet being tilted back and then lifted straight out?

Yes, you would need tools to remove the bonnet, so it slows the villains down and makes your neighbour's Defender an easier target. Shocked

It is also easy enough to make it very hard to remove these hinges - use one (or more) shear nut to secure each hinge to the bonnet, and use a shear nut and socket head cap screw with Loctite to attach the hinge to the bulkhead. Then glue a ball-bearing in the socket of the capscrew.

Re-attached my newly powder coated side steps using nice, shiny stainless nuts and bolts to my recently dinitrolled chassis, proving that my OCD is alive and well Mr. Green

I did, however, run out of rivets to re-attach the rubber treads Rolling Eyes

today i righted a few oddities first off was the traditional land rover wonky steering wheel, which is now slightly less wonky but towrads the O/S now instead. love land rover quirks ! Very Happy

then i found the tweeter that was pushed into the dash by the 9ft logs mother in law had me collect. at which point i saw the opportunity to claim "see i told you a land rover made sense" to which silence was my reply

then i broke into the dash board to refit the cable that had unclipped itself from the recirculate switch for the fans, the cable had become rather bent which caused it to pop off. so straitened it up with my man hands and sorted ! Thumbs Up

Been cleaning the chassis up all afternoon. Damned hard work but got to be done. In better condition than I though but that's a good thing! Better to underseal early than too late.

Bolted the mud flaps back on today. Again, newly powder coated and using stainless fixings:

You can just make out the neoprene isolating pad between the bracket and underside of the rear wing. There's another on the inside too, which together serve to introduce a degree of flexibility. This is to prevent the work hardening of the wing lip that leads to fracturing of the aluminium. Darren
