England 1998 Defender 90 Td5 SW Auto Oslo Blue
I met Dave via CB radio in summer 1985.

We had chatted for a couple of weeks on the CB, I kinda thought he had a nice sounding voice. We eyeballed one evening but I wasn't sure if I was interested in him - having just started to get over a messy break-up - and he looked too 'normal' - my ex having been a rockabilly with a quiff! But then we met again a couple of days later. A lovely sunny afternoon (23rd June) and this time he was wearing scruffy jeans and a Motorhead T shirt with cropped sleeves, more my type. He took me for a drive around Nidderdale in his Vauxhall Viva. I decided I did fancy him after all and that was it really.

Not long after we started going out he got me helping out with the car - pushing the pedals down when he was bleeding the clutch or brakes - that sort of thing - I also took it upon myself to clean the inside (full of fags ends and ash). And so the relationship with cars was also cemented in those early romantic early years !

We got married in May 1987, and the Land Rover thing started in 1991 or thereabouts. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

i don't see the whole wife's not liking defenders, i got my defender at 19, all the local 'young ladies' love it, the last gf before i went away to work for 5 months was demanding i get her insured on it and leave it with her... will pass on that darling,

my friend's family owns 2 very nice restaurants one very close to a premiership teams training ground and in a very affluent area so there all in from time to time, the waitresses are all about my age very pretty and love the defender more than the son's 2011 sirocco... was down tonight and left them with the keys to it all sat in it, music blaring... me and him decided to climb on the roof of the restaurant and sun ourselves
this was about 6:30 before it gets busy Smile

turned 20 january this year..

Belated congratulations by the way. Ours is coming up in September Thumbs Up
Meeting your spouse is one thing - staying with them is quite another Whistle Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Met at work in 1983

Married in May 1985 _ I was young & she was even younger

Fortunately Linda has always liked landrovers just not when I went through my G4 phase Whistle or when I had winches apart from that Thumbs Up to landrovers.

Thought about trading in as the newer models might have much better bodywork & go faster but bit like a landrover love the idiosyncracies Rolling with laughter 2020 P300 HSE

Belgium 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 X-Tech LE Nara Bronze
Met my wife in 2003. Got an "official partners" licence in 2008.
Bought a Freelander 2 in 2009, me becouse it best value for money, but she insisted becouse she loved it. The start of the LR-virus.

We got married (in it) in 2011.

I bought a 2011 110 limited edition earlier this year. She still prefers the FL2 for her day to day use but awknowledges the "Def" as a proper land rover. Only in the Def I stand a chance of having the wheel when travelling together.
I want to sell the FL2 as it now only does 3000 miles a year but she doesn't allow me to.

When I buy things for the Def, I don't get much feedback, so not sure yet where she stands on that.

Went on a 3 day camping/offroading trip and a roadbook and I think she's ok with it.
I think she sees it as "my thing" as I prefer it over any car I've ever owned.

Next month an the month there after we're goung on similar camping/offroad trips so that's good.

We're planning to go to Marocco and Italy one of the comming year so that's good.
