I met my Russian / Georgian millionaire wife on the isle of Skye . She'd never been to Scotland before and chose the most remote furthest away campsite she could find . There was only 2 tents mine and hers . I asked her if she wanted a bru and if she would like to join me on a walk up the cullins . She didn't have a driving licence so was hiking it . She asked if I could give her a lift back to Oxford where she was studying medicine so in my scrappy fuel leaking 2 door VW polo I obliged . After a couple of days she again asked if I could take her and her belongings to Brighton as she had bought an apartment there . You can imagine my surprise when I pulled into a £400K luxury marina apartment . 1 wk later and she told me to get rid of the VW , why I asked ? "Because I have bought you a nice new RR " she explained . Who was I to argue ? As she didn't have a licence I guess I was her luxury chauffeur ......... A few weeks later I only went and traded it in for a new 110 ? I told her I'd been landrover all my life and that the Def was much more appropriate . She thought I was crazy , especially after 10yrs and 4 more Defenders and nothing but problems and breakdowns .Her dad bought us a Bentley for our wedding which I soon after sold for a 1984 RR classic soft dash 4.2 V8 autobiography. Oh how I wish I still had that car . She's beginning to demand a little more luxury as the kids grow older ....... So I have recommended another 110 in the form of a JE Zulu . I'm not a flashy driver so all that comfort just isn't me ..... However I do want a Merc G wagon Brabus . All 12 cylinders and about 600 horses please .

My cousin and his then girlfriend set up a blind date for me with one of her friends, I was 22 she was 17, 18 years and 2 kids later we are still together, married for 13 of those!
Bought the 110 as a project 18 months ago and she thought I was a nutter, now given the choice her and the kids always chose the 110 instead of the car for travelling in. 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html 2014 Discovery 4 SE Tech Instagram @the110camper |

Indeed - and my lesbian aunt used to have a 90 (yes, I am serious) so "partner", as they're not yet married, should also be included Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Yep an amazing story and clearly shows my devotion to landrover and all that it stands for . But if you want to see real devotion then it all started with my first wife , ugly as hell and only lasted a couple of yrs . I was into series Landrovers and had bits of gearboxes , panels , and all the other stuff all over the house , on the staircase , on the shelves and in the oven . She warned me that if any more bloody landrovers then it was over . Yippee I thought , so couple of days later when she arrived home from work she got a surprise ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I had a total scrapper of an old landy with a tree growing out of the engine bay and no windows parked RIGHT IN THE FRONT LAWN , just to Piissss her off . Well 2 wks later the divorce was in . The new wife also knows the score - its a ROVER OR IT'S OVER . Now that's devotion for you .

If any landrover driver on this forum is worth their British salt , then my story should ring clear and true in all their ears . Amen .

After 23 years of marriage (3 years ago) my wife finally told me she had always wanted a Landrover - 23 wasted years
Just when you think you know everything about a person Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I met my better half in Prison
We both worked there, she used to hide in the pharmacy to avoid me and reckons I used rohypnol to win her over but I know better. She's won over to the Landrover world she has a D3 and endures my TD5. She's just taken up clay pigeon shooting and works our dogs on the shoot. I'm a lucky guy. DRW I built a garage for my Mini With a place for everything and everthing in its place. Ten years down the line there's a Mini in there somewhere, and all's where it should be!!!! Ho hum |
