Long story long,
First met mine at the local hospital years ago. I was with the then girlfriend and her mum who was getting cancer treatment, the lovely redhead ( now my much better half ) was there with her dad who was getting similar treatment. Both the parents died later that year. I then met my redhead on the pier during Cowal Highland games when she gave me wrong information about the time of the last boat and I was left stuck on the wrong side of the river with little money, no fags and nowhere to stay! Time passed and a few years later she nearly ran me down as I crossed the road in Oban (her driving has got slightly better since then) then never seen her again for quite a while. Met her again on Dunoon pier after another Cowal games where we spent time chatting. It was another 4 months before we started going out at New Year, and I have thankfully been stuck with her ever since. She wasn't keen on the diesel Ser111 I had at the time, but she liked the discovery. After a second discovery it was time for a change and I mentioned getting a 90. "Not if its anything like that tank you had before with the chimney (RAI) on it!" was the answer. After boring her with details of how it would be a bit quieter, slightly less draughty and there was every chance that it wouldn't leak just as much as the "tank", she agreed. She loves the 90 now, even drove it on holiday, but still likes her own Nissan Cube for getting around in |

I met Mrs T at school - we were in the same Sixth Form maths class way, way back in 1983. We've been "an item" ever since. Fantastic good fortune on my part; persistence and tolerance on hers!!
She's fine with the Defender - as long as she doesn't have to drive it too much. I don't know why she doesn't like driving it as we've had worse: In our younger years my car was Caterham 7. Once you have driven all over the UK and large parts of France in a 7, the Defender should seem like a paragon of luxury in comparison!! |

At work, like many guys. B&Q Beckton in fact.
She's the one who is into Landrovers. Until four years ago I thought Defenders were just a rubbish relic of 1970s BL. ( Hmm thats still correct ). But our four year old Puma County is now treated like one of the kids. She also got me into caravans. But not cricket or F1 - I had to draw the line somewhere. November 9th 1986 a very young, slim , naive , newly qualified Ambulanceman , walked into St.Thomas' Hospital in London and fell madly in love at first sight with the stern looking sister in A&E! She became my wife in 2000 and still falling in love with her every day,
Supports my love of the green oval , wet gun dogs and the pursuit of pheasants. She also taught me to appreciate good malt and decent wine, introduced me to the majesty of the Highlands in the Autumn. Still get butterflies if , due to shifts we haven't seen each other for a few days, when we have a day together I'm certainly a very lucky man ! Oh and although she loves the defender, as a passenger, doesn't drive it too much . But then I admit I'm a terrible passenger in any car! Has her own Freelander 2 |
