I have the wipac crystals fitted (got them from Flatdog) with osram nightbreaker bulbs and can't fault them.
Very bright on dip and main, infact you can't really see any difference when I switch my warn driving lamps on! 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html 2014 Discovery 4 SE Tech Instagram @the110camper |

Wipac crystal and Osram night beakers for me. Don't even need extra driving lights even on the B roads in the north. No point lighting up 400 yards in front when the roads take a twist and turn every few metres..
Bulbs were £12 and the wipac bowls around £30..... |

Wipac and ring 100%. Can't fault them. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I uprated to Wipacs too. Fitted Philips H4 (silver tips). OE were OK on main beam but these are much better dipped. I think the Wipacs actually make the front look nicer. Due to having a clear lens, when the sun shines on them, the reflectors reflect it back so strongly I've been flashed by motorists who have thought I've left the lights on! Can anyone recommend good light guards, that are strong & actually protect headlights without reducing the light too much? Whenever I see old Series cage type protectors, they always look hardier than the sleeker more modern ones. I think the same too. The glass lenses just look a bit dated to me. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

I have the Wipac crystal bought from Paddocks for £27 I think in my 110 over here in Germany. They obviously throw to the left, but I will be fitting the same lights when I return to UK later this year. Good lights for the money and certainly good enough for a Defender. I use Phillips bulbs in mine, but cannot remember which particular type. For the money you can't go wrong.

yea they certainly aren't at all expensive, and I too agree thy look much neater, no idea why they aren't fitted as standard im sure that a new headlamp from land rover will cost the same if not more.

Crystals and night breaker. Seriously you do not need any more on a defender. Unbelievably cheap and fantastic illumination.

Found my Philips bulb case. They are X-treme Vision H4. More expensive than Ossies, I bought a pair of each.
