Replacement windscreen hinges
Hi

I'm getting the corroded windsreen surround replaced under warranty but the dealers insist that the windscreen hinges that are equally as corroded aren't covered. They will replace them at a cost of £150 and so I'm going to replace them myself.

As a result I'd be grateful if anyone can recommend good places to get decent replacements?

Cheers

Mike

is that the big bulky bits that stick out at the bottom either side of the windscreen that used to be hinges and now look static and just for show?

if so mine are corroded and getting replaced under warranty on 8th August. How can yours not be under the LR warranty and mine is? ===================================

The two 'Dummy' Hinges should be covered. Mine were. It may be a case that the dealer is telling you that to get you to pay, but they have put the warranty claim into Landrover so they get paid by them as well. Even though this is fraud it happens quite a lot. There should be a register at Landrover(maybe Mike can help you with this) of what Warranty work has been applied for and approved.

Dealer BS Evil or Very Mad I had both of mine replaced earlier this year FOC under warranty. Ring LR customer relations and take it up with them. Steve.

Bought mine genuine from Lrseries.co.uk. Had them painted and 3 yrs later they are corroding again. They seem prone to corrosion.

Be VERY careful about replacement door hinges....... Thumbs Up

Re OX4X4 ones....Unless they've reworked them.....

Not cheap but did a little research....OX4X4 do some nice looking ones but on E-Bay state that as the footprint is slightly smaller than standard if your paintwork is faded you may be left with a tidemark, so didn't go for their door hinges (have gone for their bonnet ones though!)

Excellent engineering but heavy as hell.....

Never mind about faded paintwork on a Puma they're sprayed hinges on! Take the hinges off and all you've left is primer. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Site sponsor MPS sell some nice looking ali hinge blocks. They even offered a deal on them recently. Darren
