Gearbox is out and on the deck
Well after travelling up to Harrogate show Friday my gearbox decided it didn't want to play anymore and basically has gone clunky in every gear over than fifth Neutral

So after a long drive home Sunday after noon well 190miles in fifth Monday morning I set about taking it out , by 2 pm it was on the floor and that's where left it as I had to go to work

Well today I went back and drained the oil to find a caramelised coloured oil not black and not metallic very puzzling Rolling Eyes

Also while I was there I played about with the input shaft on the clutch end and there seems to be a fair bit of play well up down movement which makes me think the bearing has gone but I will not know for sure until the 3/6 as its of to ashcrofts to find out wether it can be repaired Confused

So what happens if it can't looks like I will be looking for a gearbox that can take the power/torque that I can make fit ? Shocked

How does the standard gearbox cope with the increased torque released with remap?

Well as my box is the 3.2 box a standard 2.2/2.4 box won't fit
A standard box will take the extra torque from a remap as most tuners will have allowed the max torque the box is capable of in there maps allowing some sort of safety barrier Thumbs Up

and internals are the very same with the 2.4/2.2 <> 3.2 gearboxes?

(BTW: makes me wonder, how the Mustang guys would live with "my" gearbox (i.e. 2.2 Puma). They have a sports car, ought to shift gears as fast as LuckyLuke shooting.
