Unfortunately it will be the same Big Cry Big Cry problem is using an 8" cone which is what the kicker is as well. Narrowest measurement for the alpine is 250 mm - kicker is 238mm 12mm difference. The kenwood is a 6" cone so is smaller (180mm) I fitted a kenwood for a mate, gave loads of bass but poor sound quality compared to the alpine Big Cry (Due to cone size and moving air)

Could you not modify the cubby ??? Hindge the lid forward ?? Sidwards, or even lift off ?? You could pack the sub away 2" to allow for lid but think that would look crap. Other alternatives relocate to another position or there are many different active subs, admittedly not so discreat but might be better suited to the look you are after ?
Or even make one purpose fit ? it aint that hard Wink

Seem to remember from my auto, that lid has a pretty heavy duty piano hinge.

It's not beyond the wit of man to swap that hinge to one that uses the same mounting points but extends out of the back and up the back of the lid.

It would be hidden behind the kicker and would allow the lid to pivot higher up.

Pm me if you want to discuss further.

i am interested in any do-able solution. even thought about turning the Alpine on it's site to see how it fits. And; making a carboard mock up of the Kicker dims to see if it fits.

Please debate away Thumbs Up BM52

unfortunately no. I have Mud rails and the seat all the way back. I thought about fitting it to the side almost under the window but I think it would look odd. BM52

Try a card template and see how that looks. If you want any black faux leather material to wrap it in I have some spare enough for what you want that would be yours if you wanted for the price of postage. I could even chuck in some cut to fit 12mm MDF if that would be any good to you.

ALL

apologies if I have offended anyone. Embarassed

with a bit too much work on currently and not enough time I thought it would be easier to have a direct phone conversation rather than try and describe in written words my solution. didn't just want to stick my mobile number in the middle of a public forum.

Still doesn't fit very well IMO.
I say sod the front and stick a couple of massive subs in the rear. Soon get some bass then. A couple of 12's or 15's. Shocked Mind you that would probably at least cost £1000 dependant on what you use. TheThunder RollsπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Trust me 2 10 inch subs are more than enough in a 90 Bow down Bow down Bow down
Mine generate silly lows, and enough to make your body tingle/itch Whistle You could half that cost Steve, as you say depends on what you use. You must create a balanced system though, otherwise the lows will drown the mid/highs Whistle

Trouble is the engine does most of that for you. Laughing
A couple of years ago I had a play with a top of the range 12" Kenwood 1224D I think it was and the bass from that was huge just from one. Shocked
Call me finicky but in the Defender I don't care for round subs that much just for there shape because everything about the Defender is squared off and a round peg in a square hole springs to mind. But as you say depends on what kit used. Kicker & MTX do square type subs but both are expensive. But let's face it, a Defender and it's value and image deserves the best IMO. TheThunder RollsπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
