The 'issue' is the short operating range. That's true of all Defenders that have remotes. The fix will likely work on all as well (I assume it's the same unit). One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
+ New Defender 110 First Edition |

I think the chap starting the topic will send step by step instructions if you don't know where the wire is.
P.S I see the two of us are living in a republic now I thought we were the "last outpost" or the "top deck of the Titanic " |

Ah. Yes, I see
yes, the Cape is a totally different country to the rest of SA. I realised this when I moved from Joburg 2 yrs ago! |

The dallier is supposed to change them at the 24m service. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't - how many customers would know?
I'm going to take both sets in (although only one gets used) and get em both changed next month. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Are instructions for this mod still available - my MY13 appears to have the same issue that the remote will not work from certain angles and others from only a foot or two away.

Hi there,
I wonder if this modification can lead to the unwanted effect of increased sensitivity to interference. Anyone noticed problems with the alarm/security-system/immobilizer since? |

^^^Not me in the three and a half years since embodiment. One of the best mods going and costs you nowt! 10 minute fit, if you're not happy I'll eat the spare wheel off my Landy and you can take the mod out in about 5 minutes.
If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

:big-grin: should I serve you ketchup to the spare wheel ? My 2.2 came from Solihull with a r/c range that is ok. Some days ago I wanted to demonstrate the trick of touching my face with the fob to increase the range (think it was mentioned in this thread before) but I parked where there was nowhere to go further away than 20m - an in this range the standard system worked. OTOH I´m not overly sure that an extended range would help me much. ´See -- I climb out of the Defender shut the door, then, with the key still in my hand press the knob, before the key is stored in the pocket. It was on two occasions in half a years time that I was at the house door, wondering if I have closed the car and from there (10m away) used the long-range-capability. To be honest, after I parked in a forest (there is a radar/TV-sender nearby I think) and could not lock the Defender by the r/c-control (but fortunately could lock it with the key and it started) I was thinking the other way round in lowering the sensitivity of the system. But I´m glad there is no need to - after reading your post (for which I Thank you). |
