This thread perhaps...... It seems that all/most 2.2s are like this. A remap would undoubtedly cure this trait!

Could be the clutch pedal switch not working, but I seem to recall someone posting that this is normal on a 2.2.
If you disconnect the clutch switch and it makes no difference you've found your culprit. |

Thanks K9 and Blackwolf - what on earth do we need a switch on our clutch for?

Well, I suppose to stop the engine management system from doing what yours is doing!
Seriously though I do agree with you. I often reminisce about the old days when just about anything could be fixed with a minimal toolkit (and no computer!) at the roadside but then I recall how much was spent doing this. Modern cars may be absurdly complex - ours less than most - but in general they are so much more reliable. |

Hi John
Have exactly the same issue with my 1y/o utility XS. Thinking about a remap by BAS to cure this and other issues. If this clutch pedal switch is the problem, it may change my mind, and save me a few quid to boot. Can anyone tell me where I can find, and detatch, this switch? Thanks. Staftly |

hi Staftly,
If you have a remap, please let me know how it goes. I guess my only concern with that would be the possible effect on the warranty. Thanks, John. |

I had this prob when I brought my 08 2.4. The owner had not used it for a month or two as he did not want it to get dirty while trying to sell it.
I had it plugged up & no faults found. After a week or 2 of use it cleared & alls been fine since Maybe yours just needs a good run to get bedded in?? You cant get a remap for 2.2 yet. Mine was like that originally as it had so very little use and to boot only 12k on the clock as well. Very "sticky" gear changes and very little smoothness but went with use. A service can help no end too.. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

I've done a little under 700 miles in my 2.2 and must say the rev holding function is a little annoying but most acute in low box. I've been inclined to wait a week or so to see how it settles as its very annoying when it's trying to guess your next rev range. Hmmmm, thats not mud....

I had this with my 2.4 a few weeks ago.bloody annoying.in the end I traced it to a blown brake light fuse, replaced the fuse and all is well again now. 2009 SVX 90 Station Wagon

Hi 5wh. Brake light fuse? that's a weird connection, but there again, knowing how some cars behave you never know. I have checked my brake lights though and they do work OK so therefore I assume their fuse must also be OK, but I'll keep this one in the memory bank just in case. Thanks.

How much higher than the next gear revs does it go, it should drop to the next gear revs, if you wait it should drop all the way. I find it makes for a very smooth up change as the transmission revs are matched with the engine revs as you let the clutch back in, I bet it saves alot of clutch wear as well Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Hi Willy, So you think that once you get used to it, this feature can actually be a positive thing?
