Ken, I just saw your three symptom post. Mine has the first two symptoms, I haven't noticed any delay yet when pressing the throttle, fingers crossed!

HI john ( and Rob ) not good news apparently after the tamper proof bolts on the ECU put up a pretty good fight against the technician and kept him at bay for a few hours they managed to swap the ECU from another new Defender and then it was fully programmed the car is no better than before.
Looks like we have a serious technical issue and no one knows what it is . Will keep you posted. Loved the story about your Atlas John, my mk2a was destroyed unregistered in the Birmingham M/C Museum fire and is now recommissioned with just over 1000 miles on the road. Cheer , will keep you posted. Ken. |

Hey all, the delay is put there to 'help' you shift gears... however if you actually know how to drive this makes it a nightmare to shift. lol
Easy solution is to short the two wires going into the clutch switch which would then disable the revs holding itself. makes for an easier car to drive. |

Ps you can short it without actually leaving it unplugged. Just get a small piece of wire and put it between the two prongs then plug the connector back in. Voila. When you step on the clutch the revs will drop as they should. Goodbye crunchy gear changes

Ok guys here it is !!!!!!!!!
Main land Rover dealership has been told my L/R tech services to swap out the PCM and Alarm control module from their new 2.2 Defender that we know runs perfect ..... JOB DONE the dealership asks me to come in and test drive both car .... The Demo car with my PCM drives perfectly , my car with the guts of the Demo still has the same symptoms ..... Back to square one we thinks ?????? NO ...... when my car is refitted with it's own PCM and alarm control module the garage does not test drive the vehicle -MISTAKE - TEMPORARY RESULT.... The Cars drives 99% easy gear changes, no surging , no excessive revs holding up YIPEE No short lived ... 400miles later the fault returns. What are we looking at ? is it a connection problem ? Lost for words and getting tired of Kangarooing about with little control over what the car wants to do |

I had a problem with kangerooing in second gear. Land Rover have updated my ECU software. It still can kangaroo if I really force it. As far as I can make out its symptom of the engine learning what's being asked of it. The only time it does it now is if I've thrashed it to work because I am late. I then have to go up the drive at 5 mph the engine then starts kangerooing. If I then dip the clutch for a few seconds it goes away and settles down and will roll along in second gear with no revs.
With the holding of the revs mine will do this, again I make it do it. Most of the time I change at around 2200 revs. The only time it holds is when i give it the beans and then wait for revs to drop it will hold the revs. But this is really a strange way to drive and change gear. If you want to get moving surely you will want to keep the revs going to match the road speed. If you let the revs drop down you will lose your momentum. I find with the torque coming in so low there's no need to rev the engine much. It's all electronic the accelerator pedal is a potentiometer so takes some getting used to. |

My 2.2 110 also held the revs. It disappeared after a few weeks (can't recall how many km's I had done at the time). Now the revs drop freely when changing gears.... Very strange. Ex 2008 Puma 90

Hi All,
I am also experiencing this on my 2012 110. It does give me a feel that I am driving a manual vehicle which behaves like an semi-automatic in between gear changes tho'... I just had her for the past 5 days and will continue to monitor her behaviour for awhile. However I do love the pull when I push her from 2nd to 3rd to 4th gear at times. Even had a Ferrari driver glaring at me when my 110 suddenly overtook him while he was doing the cat-walk drive along a shopping belt. Also the design is so so everlastingly alluring! The 110 seems to just naturally just "stand out" when it stops next to any car. I am now sourcing for rims to replace my std issue 16" steel white ones. Anybody able to recommend where I can purchase matt black 18" alloy rims at a reasonable price? I will have to import them to my country though but that is not a problem as I am in the logistics industry. Btw, I come from Singapore where it is almost flat everywhere so off road driving is out of my reach. Tks ALL and Good to see ya! 2012 Defender 110 2.2L |

Hey Rob,
Yes sir. I am the one who asked you regarding this rev issue. Thank you for providing the forum details for me to join in. After reading the post it seems that what my lady 110 is experiencing is similar to what other 110 owners have gone thru also. At least I can understand now that my lady 110 is behaving kinda in line with the 2.2Ls. Thanks Again and God Bless! 2012 Defender 110 2.2L |
