Hi,
Are the majority of you guys still using and if so/not any adverse effects? Regular two stroke right? The kind for chainsaws and such? Tanks a bunch! Jt 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately) IN the hunt for another Puma for the wifey! 2008 Kia Sorento LX 😁 2.5crdi |

Why the question? Have you engine problems which you think may be resolved by using 2SO? I have never used 2SO in my Puma, and never had any problems, but can tell you that when I switched away from supermarket fuels to using almost exclusively BP Ultimate Diesel, the engine runs much, much smoother You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Eric,
No reason really, just in winter, because of fuel differences, it sounds a bit different...still runs super, Cheers, 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately) IN the hunt for another Puma for the wifey! 2008 Kia Sorento LX 😁 2.5crdi |

Aral (BP) fuel here is okay but 250ml of Actevo every other tank quietens my Puma engine in winter.
Some members have been using it for years with no adverse effects, so it's safe to try it out and decide yourself Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

What fuel do you normally use? Eric You never actually own a Defender. I have used 2SO FC ( Mineral) now for 25K miles. I have found that it make the engine sound more refined. I have heard that the reduction in sulfur 5o ppm and the loss of its lubrication properties has caused premature fuel pump failure. Diesel is oil and 2SO is just a more refined product with anti carbon deposit properties.

Does adding 2 stroke oil not increase the sulphur content of the diesel, and because of that reduces your service interval?

I bought a bottle of the Millers additive yesterday.... Too soon to say if it makes any difference, but, hey, no harm trying!
I did try 2SO about 18 months back, and I think my engine was too tight to notice any difference, plus it wasn't BAS'd!! 37K and a remap may make things more obvious.. ... ,-------, .. I [__][_]|__ .. I __ |"_|"__| .. "(o)====(o)" ^^_-^-_^-^_^^^^^--^^^^ PAUL G7ALW 14.200 USB 26FB458 / 27.275 SSB |

On my previous Defender, a TD5 with 250000km on at that stage it made a massive difference. The engine was a lot smoother.
Now on my Puma with 40000km on when I first tried it, I could feel and hear absolutely no difference. So I think a lot of it got to do with the condition and age of the engine. But it's not all about feeling and hearing a difference. It's about getting everything more reliable in the long term. That being said, I don't add 2SO to every tank on the Puma anymore. About every 4th tank. On the TD5 I used it with every single tank. |

I use it on every 2nd tank on my Puma, it runs a bit smoother, and the most telling sign is that the EGR is squeaky clean --

Oddly enough the only time I added 2so my EGR went for a ball and had to be replaced. My new EGR is squeaky clean running without 2so for the last 60k. |
