I'd steer well clear of an angle grinder, not just because an accidental slip could cause damage, but more because all those sparks tend to be little bits of hot metal. Easily burn into the clear top coat, and even glass. Once they burnt in , you'll never get them out, and they have a habit of corroding ! It is mostly ally to cut out, I did it with a jigsaw, hand hacksaw and a file simples.
I'm not too far away, Northampton, I'll give you a hand if you want. |

Same here 6' 6" in a TD5 90 CSW sans air con, but with mud rail... Leg rooms workable, just wish shoulder room was a little better. Hence the other car is a TDV8 RR. Driving that makes me feel petite! |

This is great guys, thanks! And yeh I think I'm gonna get a metal blade for the jigsaw and use that.
If your about Jim that be awesome! I could do with a bit of moral support! I do like the bulkhead with the half dog guard and wish I could keep it but my knee has other ideas with its close relationship with the dash! Having done a few long trips recently I've just got to get something sorted.. I'll order the mud bar today but I reckon I've got some 3/4 box at work, could save on the £50 rails and mock some up.. Or is that too risky? And yes us tall guys are freaks, it doesn't help with fitting on sports bikes either!! Dam genes!! |

Pm me your number Bud and I'll give you a call.
I have ally spacers fitted by LR on mine with extended Bolts. Should think its about 30mm. Fronts are taller than the rears. can take some measurements if you like, But MUD stuff is good fits well and works with an oem feel. |

yes 30mm turned ally packers, 30mm wide with a hole in center for the longer bolts. Front is 40mm and rear 27mm high. Used to have something similar on my L200. Pick ups are renown for a poor seating position, Ie your bums too close to the floor, causing you to slump in your seat leading to the inevitable back ache. They were also supplied by the main dealer

Won't you be okay with the Mud Rails only? I'm 6'2" and comfortable without the rails. Probably wise to get the rails and see before you get the power tools out.

Unless you remove the rear bulkhead you can't use the extra benefit of the Mudrails as the seat is already back against the bulkhead. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

I thought the extra height allowed you to go back a bit as well.

I said it before but I cannot see the point in the mud rails. Just stick 2 m10 nuts under the 2 back bolts and it will slide over the lip.
Or as I did, cut 2 slots in the lip and the seat goes back without height adjustment. You'd need the bulkhead bar to get the most from this IMO. |

Ok so your saying there's a simple way of doing it without buying the rails?
I haven't had a proper look at them yet but do you mean you can cut that ledge away and the seat will slide back once the bulkhead is removed? Or by putting the nuts under will that lift the seat up to slide over? Or will that make the seat feel like its tipping forward...? I suppose you can just put two nuts at the front as well and it would level it out? |
