I will do everything in my power to avoid the EGR valve - I can't even see the bolts, let alone get my hand in
I wonder if it's even worse in LHDs... In theory, (almost) blanking off at the manifold end will massively reduce the amount of soot the valve has to deal and possibly increase its life Tell someone you love them today because life is short. Really don't understand why you'd fit the blanking plate right next to the EGR
The manifold/pickup joint is p*ss easy to get to and blocks off most of the smoke before it even gets out of the manifold... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Have you found those on ebay for the Puma 2.4 Defender? I haven't... The one I found goes between the cooler and the valve itself.
Maybe it's better for the plate to be placed after the cooler rather than directly on the exhaust manifold? Just random thought, no hard evidence of that. |

No - none on eBay but the ones K9F is sending me are positioned at the manifold with no problems. I intend to make modified versions that slip in and out just by loosening the nuts without taking out the studs - 5 minute job then, tops.
They may need changing depending on tuning, air temperature etc. I should know in a couple of weeks p.s for now you could just unplug your EGR valve to give it a rest and run with the MIL on - it only comes on after 3 engine cycles and can simply be cancelled if you have a Scangauge II etc. Tell someone you love them today because life is short. Mal's blanks arrived this morning
Just have to get a bit fitter (SWMBO insists stitches come out first) and I'm off. Slightly worried about forecast for snow this weekend but I'm sure I'll find a warm dry place to experiment in the next few weeks Thanks again Mal Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. Welcome..... Glad they arrived, dependant on swelling you could always play with your 'old man' and check on swelling reduction by trying to pass him through the blank orifices on a daily basis. Start with the 20mm one first.....

Airbox destroyed (well, the propeller thing anyway) and my mate Thomas is making the new blanks - the ones that just slot in. Just hope there's enough room for slotting in, as the manifold joint is opposite a bracket on the bulkhead...

Basically more or less the whole EGR system will be voided then except for a much reduced gas flow to keep the EGR still going but at a reduced rate. Sounds good to me. To be honest I can't understand why blanks like these or kits aren't readily available? ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Yup - it's an old story, hence the blanks Mal sent me which in turn came from Robofarmer. I just wanted to make some that are quick to change out on the newer Pumas (keeping the studs not changing to bolts) and to test them as objectively as possible. Most interesting will be to see how the hole size needs to vary with intercooler, decat and remap. In addition, when using an EGR-off remap, the holed blank will keep most of the soot away from the EGR valve, prolonging its life (even when inactive).
