On a side note, while researching this I found a cheaper alternative to the Land Rover fuel tank wrench (£85).

Don't know how good it will be, but for a one off, it will probably do at £15.

Good find! Thumbs Up

I can't find a picture of the unmodified 2.4 fuel tank filler bit to see how that looks, do you have to drill a hole to fit the pickup?

Yes you do - have a look in doc here:

Yes, it does look better, but I'm not sure it fits the 2.2. The 2.2 seems to have an existing spigot on the fuel tank assmbly (to the right of the electrical connector - number 5).

This is the 2.4 with the pick up. You need to make a hole........

And I did not removed the tank, I done an hole on the floor

if you are running say an airtop and a coolant heater would you need two pickps? or a larger bore single one?

working on the assumption that the fuel metering pump sends the required amount of fuel for one, i guess two would be needed.

so one larger bore pickup with a T to each FBH.

i am thinking of running if the bottom balance pipe pickup from the side tank as i didnt connect that up on fitting and there is 9L in there! Cheers

JST,

I thought about fitting 2 pickups when i dropped the tank on my 110, but unless you are going to run them together you probably don't need to. You could "T" off before the pump and fit 2 pumps in parallel.

I have both but the airheater is mounted in a box and has it's own fuel tank

the cooling / heating circuit. the last pics shows running the webasto in the circuit without and by passes etc. So James you are correct in saying that no Tee's are required.

thank you Marcus.

my intent is to fit one pipe from the webasto pump body to the existing T in the coolant pipework to take water into the webasto.

the fit the second pipe form the webasto ali output to the vehicle heater valve

as long as the heater is on the coolant will flow through the vehicle heater and when the webasto is on it will preheat cabin and engine.

when the vehicle heater is on but the webasto is off coolant will flow through the webasto but wont be heated by it.

when the vehicle heater is off the coolant won't flow through the webasto or the vehicle heater.

that my understanding anyway.

Dropped the southdown guard and then tank late morning today and fitted the pick up for the fuel system. https://sales.butlertechnik.com/vehicle-he...-41s45017a

only ordered it Wed afternoon, arrived thur!!!

will post up a pic soon of the unit fitted to the tank sender/feed/return unit.

dropping tank and doing the job was fine and nothing to worry about. i didnt use or make any special tools to do it. the locking ring on the sender unit came undone with a gentle tap on a parallel punch.

you can fit two pickups on the unit! Cheers

yes

but the non-return valve increase the webasto flow efficiency

i agree it would be more efficient with the valve but i don't think i will see any noticeable loss of efficiency without it. i can always add it later. Cheers

Looking at this picture.

Could you not add the webasto water pipes by plumbing it in series with the pipe that run from No 1 to 'to heater valve' text? but add it before the T piece?

would there not be coolant flowing in there the whole time the engine was running regardless of the heater position? rather than between the T and the heater valve where flow rate is determined by the heater position?

i presume the coolant is running Right to left? ie out the back of the block to the top of the rad? Cheers
