Been a more expensive month than most (and no new toys to show for it). Start of May meant £215 for a new tax disc which is better than the 07 was and then yesterday it went in for it's first service.
It's now done just under 11,000 miles and in addition to a service Lancasters fitted a new drivers door seal as the original kept drooping at the top and swapped the two towing sockets they had fitted for a single 13 pin type socket. I had expected the 'euro' style 13 pin socket to be be fitted from new as I thought they didn't fit seperate ones any more but it seems they do ... Anyway they did it all FOC which was nice. It is actually a year old next week so I might have buy it a present ... John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

I've had the Boost wheels powder coated black - looks much better IMHO but I would still like to get the tyres changed for 265s when funds allow ...

They look sexy, John. Do you mind if I ask how much the coating cost? Darren

Just under £60 per wheel - not the cheapest place I found but it was the best based on my research and the answers I got from talking to various companies. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

I prob should do an update to round off 2012 and start 2013 ...
Before I do though ... the New Year has started with a problem Driving back from S Plain last Sat evening the battery charging light was coming on - however if I switched it off and then started again it went out and stayed out which was a relief. Then on New Years Eve it came on and stayed on - . I left until yesterday and gave it time to dry out in the sun but it still stayed on and a meter across the battery showed only 12 v so it looks as though the alternator has given up at 17,000 miles. Anyway I started it this morning, dropped the kids off at their activity day and took in to Lancasters (main dealer). Left it with them and got a taxi back home as they didn't have any courtesy cars free. Waiting to hear the verdict now John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

All sorted out now - it was dead and a new one has been fitted. I picked it up from Lancasters last night with a full wash and interior valet - all free under the warranty. Very pleased again with their service John

Does it often happen that an alternator packs up after a good year only? I never had that happen to any car of any age myself, and never heard it from anybody else either..... Is this a LR gremlin? Hope not.... You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Salisbury plain is known for killing alternators. People love it because no scratching, but personally i prefer the scratches and not the failure of major other parts. Andy |
