No need to be bashful, Greeni. It's not as if you're the only Land Rover owner to ever tow a caravan ![]() By coincidence, I drove about 430 miles today too, delivering children to grand parents. Used the Freelander though, as it's a much better fast mile muncher ![]() Got home and repaired the wiring to the rear NS door central locking that had decided to give up the ghost yesterday. Discovered that it had already been repaired once by the previous owner, badly ![]() 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Busy defender day (less children than normal)
Picked up snow cover and blanking plate from Zagato, well Mrs Zagato. Fitted said snow cover: ![]() Click image to enlarge Not sure if this is sitting a bit hogh with the grill and the chequer plate. Maybe the grill should be removed so the snow cover sits closer to the curve of the wing? Fitted Entreq mudflap reinforcement brackets, courtesy of Leeds: ![]() Click image to enlarge Even though I have done less than 5,000 miles from new, the panels were slightly deformed. I think this is an essential modification. Fitted snorkel (and also blanking plate): ![]() Click image to enlarge This needed some persuasion to fit. Has only been dry fitted for testing. Will need lots of gloop to get it to fit well and seal. Fitted anti-theft bonnet hinges from ZeDefender: ![]() Click image to enlarge Struggled to remove bonnet on my own (heavier than I thought). Bushes were such a tight fit and curls were so warped that I ended up with banana shaped bolts. No way this was going to fit by offering bonnet with hinges already attached to curls. Fitted hinges to body and got wife to hold bonnet against hinges while I attached bolts. |

I fitted my snow cover without the plastic grill but made a thinner aluminium mesh (diagonal mesh 10mm x 5mm) grill to replace it. Now the cover sits a bit lower down whilst still stopping bees etc coming through the air vents
![]() The other reason is that last Winter (when I didn't have plate on the wings and the snow cover sat really low down on the plastic grill) I got the impression the heater blowers were struggling to get enough fresh air. The mesh has much less resistance. It's probably imaginary but it does seem better now. Did you get the hinges on in the end? The differences between different Defenders' "designs" is worrying ![]() Apparently, the order of fitting hinges to bonnet or curly first is very variable ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

After only two weeks of ownership, sent it back to the Main Dealers to have a list of faults rectified.
![]() I will report back on my treatment via the Dealer Review section when hopefully all has been sorted. ![]() |

Not a lot to report - been using mine and it has been faultless and getting dirty. Took it the local Polish hand wash chaps today so it now gleams.
Off to get the wheels sorted out tomorrow. I also need to find time to fit the new bonnet hinges ... John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Got round to taking off the last of the plastic bottom engine cover, it's been broken at the back where it fits to the centre cross member since about the second week of ownership three and a half years ago. Various sticks and lately cable ties are no not needed! Replaced a prop UJ at the rear as it was just starting to let go only trouble is, is that the spare I'd got hadn't got a greaser and I suspect the white box that it was in missed the part of the packaging process where they colour the boxes with blue crayons. Must get another proper spare in ready

Put the eldest to bed by 7pm, he's finding it a tadge difficult to adjust to the school holidays with his autism so I went outside to get away from the "toddler whine" coming from the 15 year old upstairs
