Your tow bar is no longer held on with all of the bolts. Is that a good thing? Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

Well, a little while back, but my wife had another baby, so I've been a little busy.
Had a patriot rack fitted: Click image to enlarge Quite pleased with it. It appears to be very well made. Slight whistling noise at certain speeds, if I have the radio off. Perhaps a slight decrease in mpg, but no discernible difference otherwise. I visited the factory to have it fitted and a chat with Paul, who runs the company. I mentioned that I was dithering between his rack and the Hannibal and said the criticism of his racks that come up regularly are the corrosion of the bolts and the need to drill them out if anything needs to be changed. He said they now use Hylomar Blue to assemble which should mean that there is no longer any bi-metallic corrosion. I could just about see traces of it around some bolts: Click image to enlarge The other thing he mentioned was that they have improved their powder coating and now use Keronite before powder coating. I had a quick look at their website: http://www.keronite.com and it seems to be some sort of ceramic coating. No idea how good this is in the real world, time will tell. |

It's more stable to drive like this...although it has now only 4 bolts...but like it was it was easy to scratch the back of the caravan on the ground on a road bump or on the starting of a steeper rise... I hope it's enough! Fitted a 12v socket in the back using the spare purple and black wires:
Click image to enlarge The socket itself is taken from a Pajero, so will hopefully be boringly reliable After filling up with fuel I also realised that yesterday was my first anniversary with this particular Land Rover. The anorak in me therefore feels the need to share this with the group: Click image to enlarge I'm hoping that the MPG will pick up again when the Alive remap novelty has worn off a bit Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Mine's an '05. Perhaps they came in with the dash facelift in '02? They'd be a very easy retrofit if you can find some. Alternatively, the company that does the Defendoors also make a version HERE. Darren
