There's always something to do on a Land Rover, so I now have a revised list of things to do over the summer, time permitting:
1. Finish rear floor soundproofing and replace matting 2. Replace duff single tone horn with a twin horn setup 3. Buy and fit a powered sub speaker to add some depth to the Alpine unit 4. Drain and re-fill all fluids in gearbox, transfer box and diffs (for peace of mind) 5. Paint and waxoyl chassis and doors/bulkhead etc 6. Today I finished off the sound proofing in the rear tub. Thoroughly cleaned off the floor using some solvent cleaner, and then cut a sheet of the alu' backed foam sound deadening material to size. It's perfect for this as it's 10mm thick, made of closed cell foam so won't absorb moisture or water and is heavy, so it really deadens the panel vibrations.
Once fitted I found the tailor made Land Rover rear rubber mat didn't quite fit, obviously, as the inner dimensions of the tub have been reduced by 20mm. So, I just sliced it up, 2 sections for the wheel boxes and then the floor section. Once fitted, they are still nice and snug and there's no ripples. Re glued the rear lower door seal, rubbed down the galv door strip to brighten it up and used new screws to fix it down. Just been out for a test drive and it has made an excellent difference to the noise reduction. Before, the exhaust noise would boom from under the rear floor, now it doesn't. Now that the entire rear of the Landy and the roof panels have been covered in this stuff, it has made the driving experience much nicer. Eventually I will also soundproof the seat box, floor, tunnel and bulkhead. I'm also toying with the idea of covering the rear of the bulkhead in some sort of fabric, as well as the curved side panels above the wheel boxes, just not sure what material yet. 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |

Nice to hear its all coming together. Heated seats - once fitted (yes get a proper bloke to do it  ) you'll never want to go without as they are nice and cosy. I fitted some Exmoor trim ones when I renewed my seats faoms/covers and when eventually wired correctly make a nice difference, even though they look a bit weedy before installation.
Don't know why you didn't get a rangerover to start with (oh yes you did  )

Is the engine blanket any good? With the engine having the acoustic cover, my bonnet already soundproofed, I wonder what value it will add?

Makes a fair difference I think. Pricey though, so it depends on how much you value your comfort. It's never going to be a FFRR.... it does make the engine quieter at speed, but this tends to mean you can hear the gears/tyres howling instead

in the Puma you can cruise at 70+ and not hear the engine, the BFGs are quiet, i only hear wind noise. not even that when i am on my own and the music is on. no transmission noise either.
i have the NK bonnet kit which i will fit when it gets dryer and warmer  it will be interesting to see [hear] whether it makes even more of a difference. BM52 |

Landy is looking cracking mate. Is that the Flatdog bumper and A bar you have fitted?? If so, how is the quality on them as I am just about to place an order for bumper and A Bar.
