Not posted for a while due to work and a holiday:

Done a few more bits on the Defender. It hadn't moved for a month and fired up first turn of the key Very Happy

Finally replaced the duff single tone hone with a dual tone kit from eBay (£5). All works fine, absolute bargain. Much louder.

More importantly, fitted the Alpine powered Subwoofer and really pleased with the neatness of it all. Have fitted the unit behind the passenger seat so its out the way and still works perfectly. All the wiring I managed to route through existing holes and grommets to get into the battery box, under the matting, up into the fuse box on the bulkhead and then up inside the dash to the head unit. It's not visible anywhere.

I mounted the remote control on the cubby in such a way that I can adjust it while driving without lifting it off the velcro.

Once fitted and tested it has made a phenomenal difference, with the 4 x Alpine 4" speakers in the headlining providing all the crisp treble, its now a great little setup. I also love the fact that its all Alpine kit Cool

Good choice. I've been putting their gear into cars since the '80s and I still don't think you can better it.

It's good to have all the gear matching looks neat and works at it's optimum then. Thumbs Up âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸

Thanks chaps, I'm really pleased with the progress of it.

Hopefully in the next month or so I will get time to paint the chassis and then waxoyl it all.

Have toyed with the idea of having the roof panel sprayed black, to continue the black theme on the car, what are your thoughts? 2016 D4 HSE

If it was mine, I'd either leave the roof as is - or paint it in the body colour rather than black Thumbs Up John

Good points there, the white roof is very much a signature part of the Land Rover shape, its iconic.

Maybe it's best left as is. 2016 D4 HSE

Spoils the look IMO and I think your idea is a good one but the points made above do have their truth too. Thumbs Up âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸

RRUK,

Lovely looking truck, obviously the work you have carried out has been done so, fastidiously and with attention to detail. From the photos one of the cleanest TD5s I've seen especially considering it is 9 years old. You must be pleased!

Thanks K9F,

I'm really really pleased with it. I was happy with it when I bought it as it was solid and a good base vehicle. The changes I've done are quite simple really, adding to the comfort of the car, things I always wanted to do to my Series 3 SWB when I was 17 but couldn't afford to!

The thing with Defenders is, there's always something else you can do to improve it, it never ends does it? 2016 D4 HSE

Sadly not....It can be somewhat of a 'contentious issue' too. I went to the B&W Show and the following morning at home my alarm went off because the sunscreen sucker became detached from the windscreen and it dropped down. The immediate accusation was "What have you had fitted yesterday that caused the alarm to go off?"
Rolling with laughter
I have kept a running total of expenditure and all receipts in four years of ownership (Think it may be a good selling point eventually) and it amounts to a very healthy £11,892 over what it cost me. (Which was just shy of £22k). Still got a wishlist not quite as long as it was, but NO! It never ends!

I have to agree with JSG, the classic colors for defender roofs are white or body colored...

Fantastic looking Defender though, really like how the green and black compliment each other! Thumbs Up

Landy is looking cracking mate. Is that the Flatdog bumper and A bar you have fitted?? If so, how is the quality on them as I am just about to place an order for bumper and A Bar.

Cheers

Sorry, missed this, probably too late to reply but yes it's a Flatdog A Bar and a standard bumper.

The A bar is very good, well worth £50. I love the look of it. 2016 D4 HSE
